I tried searching for any information on the internet relating to the topic above. I found nothing. I did a query in my FC (+200 members) and It seems only a handful of people actually used potions. I think this is partly due to their short durations, and Long Cooldowns, and cost.
Has SE mention anything about changes to Potion ? I dont think they need a major buff but some QoL changes could make potion use sky rocket.
Some Thought:
1. Cost: Some Potions are way too expensive to craft to validate the worth. Mega-Potion of Strength is a prime example. 1 Bottle of Shark oil is about 1000gil on my server. Add in the cost of crystals and other mats it could cost 1000-1500 a craft for 3 potion. I can't justify paying 1500gil for 45 secs of buff. And Dont Get me started about how much it cost to make Mega Potion of Vit...
The cause of this is because of the raw material rarity. SE should rework some of the higher level recipes or provide other means of getting the mats. I shouldnt have to waste 1-10 leve's to get 1 Pudding flesh for VIT potion.
2. Duration: I think another reason why players dont bother to use potions is because the cooldowns are a turn off. With the average WP SR being 10-15mins, do I really need to waste 1500gil for 45secs worth of more dps ? Hmmmm I can live without it. This combined with their long cooldowns. I much rather spend 1500gil on HQ Devil Eggs which last me 30mins. I'd much rather have a potion with half the potency with a 90sec CD. I'm not saying to do this but SE can balance this so that it is more appealing to users.
3. Quality of Life Change The following changes could boost the market for Alchemist: Removing Potion of GCD, Make Marco's for Potions so that they can be weaved with abilities (example: 1. Mega Potion of Vit > Wait 1> Thrill of battle ), Make different types of potions have different cooldown (Make VIT Potion share CD with other VIT potions but not with STR, INT,DEX..)
