This game really encourages hoarding Gil, but what for?

Since price is always dropping, there is no point to store anything you don't need at the moment: things like Materias should be sold immediately.

But I'm not sure what's the point of having all these Gils either. With ilv80 gears/more myth gears, you don't even need ilv70 and the materias that go into them.

Maybe 2.2 will bring some use for Gils? I'll have lots by then.

This game needs ilvl 80 crafted gear that could really compete with allagan/myth items, including weapons. Makes no sense that you can get highest ilvl gear from running sub-average difficulty dungeons like AK/WP.

But this is the catch, look at other MMO's with a gear crafting system, the crafting gear is usually used to help push people in the raids, and then the raids are where you get the next gear set. The crafted gear helps you get into coil, you couldn't get into coil using the ak/wp drops before, you needed either darklight or crafted to go run coil to get the upgrade.

Now with the increase in myth tomes, and the increase in philo tomes, and a new raid with i80 gear.. Just assuming you doil CT once a week AND get a drop, you can walk away each week with 1 i80 item, 1 i90 item (myth tomes) and 2 i70 items... That right there is the reason the crafted gear is no longer needed, and this still follows how other mmo's do it. The crafted gear is usually 2 or 3 item levels below the raid gear and it is there to help people get into the raids instead of farming the dungeons for drops.

Now when they bring out a higher level of gear, let's just say there will be new recipes and gear in 2.2...this is just an assumption.

If they bring out item level 100 in the next raid.. crafted gear is still not needed even if they create an i90 crafted set, and the reason for this is because most players will already be IN i90 gear for 2.2. So instead they need to bring out the raid gear as i110? Still no usefor crafted gear, and again the reason is everyone will still be in mostly i90 or fully i90 gear which will allow them to do the next raid.

So solution, again assuming for craftable gear purposes and to make them valid. They will need to bring out 3 new dungeons of i100 gear (higher than coil to make upgrades wanted/needed) craftable gear of item level 105 or 110, and new raid gear of item level 120 and 130. So now what happens, the new raids you will need to upgrade your i90 gear before going into them so we will have a choice, either dungeon grind for the i100 whcih will let us run new raid, or get craftable gear of i105/110 which will help make things easier for raid so that we can get our new i120/130 gear.

There wasn't a higher level gear set brought out in 2.1 (they actually brought out a lower set) and they made it easier to get the high end gear (again technically you don't even need to do coil and can be i90 which is a mistake), so to fix it, the next gear set needs a big jump and add the proper leveled gear in between, if they just bring out coil part 2 and make it i100, there will be no reason to make crafting gear.

    Totally agree.

Anti RMT "counter measures" sapping the fun from legit players, yet RMT is as active as ever.

Gil is pointless. Housing will use it. There might be rent to pay on the houses, but generally - pointless. Even with housing it is just for superficial "fluff" stuff.

Can I have some of your gil then? You could always give some of it away if you don't need it.

I agree, if you have a tiny amount of patience and don't mind running dungeons then there is very little point spending much money as it stands right now. I know some people love to MIN/MAX but I'm not too bothered about this and the difference is so negligible that I don't value it as being worthwhile. Personally I preferred the FFXI model where you could make a fortune but it was high risk and there was more to buy for most players, at least when I gave my account up in 2009, than 99% of players could ever hope to buy. I don't think that will be SE's model in this game so until then I craft because I find it enjoyable but I don't get very excited about money.

Gil is pointless? I need at least 3-5k per day for teleporting because I am too lazy to walk to the zones I need to go to. Equipping a DOH or DOL char with HQ items and Materia also costs over 100.000 Gil per character.

If you ever want to buy a Vanya or other high end items, you will realize that they also cost you a fortune if you can't make them on your own. Two star crafted gear with forbidden materia slots can be better than some of the ilvl 90 Myth gear you get in Mor Dhona.

If you wanna have more than one Relic weapon, you need something between 40-60k for each char just to get the base weapon and materia.

If you play only one character, it might be valid that you do not need a lot of GIL. If you wanna play a few chars, you need tons of Gil if you want your chars to be equipped well before it's 2020.

Hoard gil cause there's no efficient/simple way of earning gil atm. Yeah thers leves and guildhests and yes you can earn some that way but not much else. Items on the market are outrageously priced. We need dailies like they have in FF11 and WoW. Granted alot don't like them and yes they can become tedious but its s way of having a process of earning an income.

Atm I'm making what I can and only spend what and when I need too. I know I can also sell the market boards I have very little done so but at the moment I personally don't know what is a sales or has a good return if it is put up on the market for but yeah I would and usually have sold stuff on the market boards and do sell some stuff on the market boards but I don't know what all sells for a lot must do research I guess.
