The New World

So how much do we know about the "New World" anyway? As far as I know, it is mostly mentioned in some item descriptions as a newly discovered continent to the west. Based on this, I'm willing to bet it is going to be influenced by the Americas... assuming we ever get to see it, of course.

It's far to the west across the Indigo Deep. It has tapirs that eat dreams, acorn snails, and aqua del sol. That's all I've seen of it, so far.

Ah, yeah, I've read about those tiny tapirs! Pretty neat. They're native to South and Central America (as well as Southeast Asia). Potatoes and corn are native to the Americas as well, so it is more than likely that the New World will be based on Native American imagery/mythology.

I'm looking forward to this.

Edit: Though it is Chinese and Japanese mythology that has the tapirs as dream eaters. Think Drowzee from Pokemon.

Drowzee is based upon the Bakuu. The funny thing is that Pokémon Munna is mentioned in the first generations games, yet it was released in the fifth generation.

I see an expansion focusing on that. Perhaps making contact with civilizations set on the new world. There's some jobs that would also fit that particular setting.
