    Rose Gold Melding

I know, gryphon with all the right melds is better. Problem is that gryphon is a lot more expensive to fully meld with all the right stats (vit & parry are way more expensive than STR, ACC & DEX). On my server it's something like 1mil on 5x VIT4 alone, before you even consider overmelding parry (15-20k each) and maybe crit. This is likely to be exacerbated by my terrible luck with melding so far. Really don't think it's worth spending all of my $$ melding the gryphon (not including farming for tomes) when I could probably get away with Rose Gold and only spending 500k to meld it. This is especially true if 2.2 brings us better crafted gear in a few months.

Anyhow, if you were to go for the more bargain oriented Rose Gold, how would you meld it?

Here's what I'm thinking so far:

(NOTE: STR4 = STR IV for my following notations)

    Ring - VIT 10 PAR 9 ACC 12
    Meld - STR4-DEX3-DEX3-PAR2-STR2
Goal - cap STR & PAR - add in dex for more parry. I could swap the 2x DEX3 for a DEX4 + CRIT3 but I'm trying to go with the cheap (er) route here and DEX3 is about 1/20th the cost of DEX4/CRIT3 and the 2nd overmeld has been a problem for me thus far.

    Wrist - VIT 10 PAR 9 CRIT 12
    Meld - STR4-ACC3-ACC3-STR2-PAR2
Goal - cap STR, ACC, PAR

    Ears - VIT 10 CRT 9 PAR 12
    Meld - STR4-DEX4-ACC3-ACC3-STR2
Goal - cap STR & ACC, add in more dex. May choose DEX3 instead as a budget option.

    Neck - VIT 10 DET 6 PAR 12
    Meld - same as ears
    Goal - same as ears

Thoughts? Is DEX the most worthwhile option to go for as a secondary stat (for the small boost to parry) or would you choose something else here?

You should at least put a Tier IV in the first slot.

EDIT: Also figure out how much STR/DEX you need to hit each tier before just throwing it in, once you hit the Tier go to Det.

I dont think a DEX tier really exists.
DEX is only good on gryph because its "free".
If i was you i would skip DEX on rosegold stuff, provided you can meld more crit/det by not melding DEX.

I write STR IV as STR4 in my post above.

My understanding is that STR is the best damage stat we can get (better than CRIT, DET, SPD, or anything) so after capping our mitigation stats, the first priority would be to cap STR anyhow.

And are Tiers even really confirmed for DEX? All I've ever seen is a lot of speculation and not much in the way of hard #s.

Or are STR tiers either for that matter? I saw some speculation that the amount parried by STR was rounded for display, giving the illusion of tiers existing. However, behind the scenes, the actual amount parried was a fractional number. Did anybody ever debunk this idea?

The DEX tier thing has been debunked here (at least this is how i read the numbers): http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...odology-needed
So while DEX will help your parry, you dont need to get it to any specific number.
Not sure about STR tiers, but STR is always good to have as more damage = more enmity.
