NPC with the Christmas stuff has been in the game since the last hotfix.

Yeah, actually he was there even in the Beta - he's an npc manning a vendor stand at Mih Khetto's Amphitheater in Old Gridania who complains about how it seems 'the Starlight Festival will never come'. So it's likely he's connected with the actual Christmas event. I think we'll be getting the FFXI/Dragon Quest crossover event before then though.

The 'Starlight Celebration' is the equivalent Eorzean holiday to Christmas. The name was first used for a similar event in FFXI, like a number of other seasonal events, and has pretty much the same function. Last few Holiday Seasons, all I've been doing for gaming events was chasing around an alien trying to steal Christmas for himself. Kinda funny, but I am excited to see how Eorzea does the holidays!

I just want the large Christmas trees in the towns again so I can hide in them and snipe people with /snowball! I hope the emote comes back with the rest of the event.
