    No Healer Contribution for FATEs

So, today in Southern Shroud, I observed Steel Reign show up. Shouted about it, got together a pretty large crowd, and then proceeded to rez the fallen (as SCH). The Raid Group managed to kill Odin, and then my face fell because although I had participated in the entire battle from start to finish, I had not once attacked Odin and therefore "hadn't contributed".

I had forgotten the fundamental rule that when it comes to boss FATEs, you have to hit them at least once in order for your contribution to count.

I don't know if this has been brought up before (searching the threads wasn't helpful), but it doesn't seem right that FATEs are entirely offensively oriented like this. If you're the proper level and doing what your role is intended to do, you shouldn't get nothing for not attacking the boss.

You get credit for gaining enmity on targets. You don't have to attack at all. If all you did was Raise then you aren't getting hate and therefore not getting credit.

You need to DPS or heal, and if healing didn't get you any credit then either whoever you were healing didn't have any hate on Odin or it is a bug.

I'd like to add today, this was the first time I did Behemoth and was pretty excited (I am never on when that or Odin spawns). Had a full party, although none of our members were main tanking. The main tank that wasn't in our group, for the fight didn't seem to have anybody healers so I was sole healing the encounter. I had a LOT of fun in that fight.

Then I learned the above valuable lesson. Healing a tank outside of my group got me zero credit, no achievement or medal, no item. I am pretty damn bummed by that. I was personally the one that kept that tank up to help ensure victory and got no credit. Seems like a broken mechanic for such an essential role....

    Fates

Heal when u want, until SE fixes this, not when your group needs it. If you have an idiot that's standing in aoe's or whatever, let em die and get credit while they're dead. I know that works I've waited a few times healing people only to inherit the agro and no one peel and I die.

    1) Don't heal the tards! bottom line. 2) Be selfish like the dps until a heal is absolutely needed otherwise u lose XP. Don't limit your XP cause of rule #1.

Someday I will find a PvP oriented game that will be as much fun as Dark Age of Camelot was in its heyday.. <still looking>

I'd like to add, though it is somewhat off-topic, that it is possible for players to gain enmity credit for FATEs, including a gold medal, by using Flash, which does no damage. I did it as a test during Svara's FATEs, for reference. There are many sets of 8 Thrustaevis that spawn to test it out.

So if you want to get FATE credit via healing, I would suggest you pair up with a good tank (such as a Gladiator or Paladin that would use the strategy above) and simply focus (Shift-F) heal them while they grab a mob. Most of the time there will be many people DPSing the mobs down, and both of you will be fairly happy with the results as well. Just make sure the tank has gotten the monsters' attention first, as you'll get no credit for healing someone who isn't on a monster's enmity table.

Edit: Or you could always Medica II your FATE party as a White Mage, I've seen that work pretty nicely too. Succor as a Scholar should be a good enough equivalent with some spammage.

Happened to me just a little while ago.

The problem is exacerbated by the fact that lag gets so awful around Odin / Behemoth that I often can't target anyone besides myself, or end up being able to only rez after a few minutes.

I just want to say how bummed I am when my group got gold and the achievement for doing the Behemoth fate....that is everyone but me. Because the second whm was busy dd'ing in our party I had to main heal our tank who had hate on behemoth the entire time. Because of that I didn't have time to dd the boss and had I not been healing our group wouldn't have been able to get the achievement and gold.

Because I played my role as a whm in our fate party I got shafted.... Got no gold, got no achievement. This really needs to be changed. It gives healers absolutely no incentive to actually heal during the fates.

That, and whoever is the main tank should get a gold as well. Getting Silver is ridiculous!

Those big fates are clearly not based purely on enmity because if that were the case, whoever was tanking would get nothing but Gold. Unsure of the full formula but wow it's frustrating.

I absolutely agree on the fact that healer doesnt get any credits on healing behemoth and odin.
Is it really the big idea to be a jerk and let your party die? Most of the time your party will go from 100 to 0 in one shot, so your only option is to raise! The only person who usualy survive aoe are tanks, which give you an idea of what you spend most of your time doing...
I suggest that either you give credits to healers for raising people. Either you lower the dammage dealed by Odin/ behemoth for we could actualy "heal" over "raise". (When I say lower, I would rather my party get 1 HP for a chance to heal over 0!)
The concept of healers isn't to dps when there is people on the verge to die or dead, we are here to attend the wounded! Dps-ing should comes only once your party is healthy. You making us look like jerks when we leave corpses on the ground because we wish for a medal too...
