Question: To Those With Alts!

So I have my "Armed to the Teeth" achievement, hate crafting, and just looking for things to do lately. I've been helping out random groups with Chimeras/Hydras/Titans etc. and enjoy that for part of the day, but have decided to make an Alt for funzies and getting some Allagan gear on a job to see what I can do with it maxed out.

All that aside I made a char the other night and was wondering if people were able to transfer over their character settings. I logged in to a HUD completely stock, and I'm already so particular about placement.. I'd really like an exact replica of my *main* character for HUD and other settings. Is there an option for this somewhere? I'm on the same computer and all, so I thought it'd just be there. Any help much appreciated!

There's a folder containing all of the UI settings for each of your characters in the My Documents\My Games folder. This includes UI positions, keybinds, macros, settings, basically any changes you've made to the default UI. Find the folder belonging to your main character (which you can do by checking the "Date Modified" property or looking for the log folder, which contains chat and battle logs), then copy its contents to the folder belonging to your alt (again, check the log folder and look for your alts names in the chat log).

Make sure to close the game while doing this.

The quick answer is not really.

It is much quicker just spending 3-5 minutes reconfiguring the general look.

That being said... You can actually go into your documents folder and go to my games and the final fantasy folder. In there will be folders called FFXIV_CHRxxxxxxxxxx. Each of those is a character you made including files such as hotbar, keybind, macro, etc. You can try copying them to the other folder (make backups first!!!!!) in hope that it gives you the same looks... but... I never got it to work 100% accurately. Of course I also didn't copy every file either.

Worst case you can delete the files you copied and put your old files back in place and it gives you a bunch of abilities on your hotbar that are for another character.

Yes this pretty much. afaik only gear sets don't transfer.

Even the gearsets transfer but they will only work if you have the gear in your alt's inventory as well. Also, if you don't have enough gearsets available on your alt, only the available amount will be copied over starting with the top of the gearset list.
