If you must know, it's a silly phrase that was made up in a Zam article that quickly caught on in the Zam forums and was often used in (at least in my opinion) a derogatory fashion referring to those who defended the game as it was slung about on their forums, and it makes me die a little inside to see it actually sticking and being dragged to another forum community.

Unfair. Why can she jump and my character can't? That's what I want to know.

I'm in the same boat as the OP, I log in during the week to stock up on leves and then do 16 of them straight on the weekends. Maybe do a couple quests or a few guild mark leves during the weekdays as well. I think it has something to do with jobs (not the FFXIV version...) and those who don't have them get burned out then nerd rage on the interwebz.

I honestly doubt people complaining is going to change anything. If anything, it drowns out good ideas that they would otherwise read but miss because of all the clutter.

This quote above is just one of many that follows the line of thinking that the Rep's are actually doing their job and that there piss poor performance has actually been adequate. I feel that the community as a whole has been turned blind to what a good community rep or rep's are.

It is no surprise that besides FF XIV, i much like other people participate in other Massively Multiplayer games. Aside from FFXIV i play HoN or Heroes of Newerth. Now what is the point to bringing this up well S2 is a small indie company and i want to compare there community reps to SE's FF XIV community rep.

The average response from the FF XIV community reps I'm sure we all know whether or not we like it or not is "we will look into it" or Thank you for bringing this to our attention", you now some pretty cut-and-paste crowd control tactics.

Now here is a thread i participated in on the HoN forum page if you want the link, http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/sh...d.php?t=235523

If you did not read and follow the link, after a heated debate which actually has been reduced by the mods community reps immediately responded, here are a few responses:

    1. from the GM: "It's really nice to see some constructive points and discussion in one of these threads. They usually turn into a giant mess of trolls and nonsense."

    2. from a senior GM: "Do not worry, your heated debate was not in vain."

    3. continued from senior GM: "I'm currently writing a formatting a giant thread that I will present to the admins, and this thread gave me a few good points to add."

    4. continued from enior GM: "I'm not a 1 man army with the power to change the internet for the better, I just do my part and hopefully thats enough :/ Also, I don't think we will ever disclose the status of someone's account. I worked on an alternative idea though, one that doesn't cause legal issues. Hopefully it'll go through."

As you can plainly see FFXIV Community Reps, are mostly ghosts, who have an automated response to a majority of things which makes you feel your talking to an answering machine rather another human being. If i were to ever see the kind of Community Rep's that i see in HoN in FF XIV i would be pleasantly surprised. Not having adequate Community Rep's is not only a bad image for a company as large as SE but is also detrimental to the community as a whole.

Pointing out these vary flaws is not only necessary for the game to grow, but is necessary for establishing what a good game needs in general.

Nah, no one has any legitimacy to criticize the community reps. They are pulling more than their own weight, unlike the STF.

I read the article. I just think he was using it as a joke on himself because a lot of people don't take rant seriously. It was kind like he made fun of himself already and you double made fun of him. I can understand why you don't like the phrase though that article was awful when I read it, and is still awful to this day.

Ya, for the way the article was written, it was fine. But in the end people took it a little too seriously.

It's not as valuable as you think when most of this feedback is utter garbage being spouted by forum trolls. I'm not saying that SE isn't getting good feedback and ideas from the forums, but they have to sift through a lot of trash threads for every serious thread posted.
