Low FPS, choppy gameplay, high benchmark scores on Macbook Pro

My macbook pro scored a 3482 on High Laptop, which I imagine should be able to play the game at 30 FPS most of the time right?

My setup is this:
2012 Macbook Pro Retina Display
Resolution 1280x720
Intel i7-3720QM 2.6ghz
Nvidia GTX 650m 1gb
8gb DDR3 1333hz Ram
Windows 8.0
Nvidia Driver 331.91 Nov 27th.

I have no programs installed, in fact I just reformatted the hard drive downgrading from windows 8.1 (which was fairly unstable) and did a fresh install. The only program installed was the bootcamp software to switch back to mac, as well as the default drivers. No internet browsers, antivirus, or anything.

That, and the benchmark.


I have put the game on Laptop Standard and I still get around 7-15 FPS in town. It's unplayable. I can't walk, I can't use the auction house. I dread having to enter a town.
Yet my score says I should be able to play just fine on the benchmark...

I'm playing at 1280x720... there is no reason this computer should be worse than the PS3 version.


Just to test again, I set the Benchmark to 1280x720 and Laptop Standard, and I scored
5501 "Very High" suggesting I should increase the settings.


So, with these scores, why is the game performing so dreadfully?
