Relic Quest disappeared from quest journal ..

I was currently at the step where I had defeated Ifrit (hard) and had just unlocked the next trial for Garuda (Hard). I had re-qued Ifrit to attempt to obtain the Summoner Grimoire to have until I completed the Relic quest, and unfortunately the group I had gotten from DF had failed. Upon leaving the failed trial, "A Relic Reborn (Veil of Wiyu) quest had disappeared from my quest log. Thinking maybe it was a glitch from completing the sub-quest to unlock Howling Eye (Hard) I had returned to Gerolt my quest giver .. only for him to tell me that I need to start from the beginning and do it ALL OVER again!??!!?

I was nearly complete and have spent a fortune obtaining the items I needed, not to mention the amount of time spent progressing through this quest line !!! I am very upset about this .. please tell me, there is a way to restore my progress so all my time/Gil has not gone to waste!??!!!

yea.....this happened to me last week after maintenance. I heard there are quite a few people that had had the same problem.

Seems to have happened to many players for a long time now, I've seen many such reports, I've not seen anyone posting they got their quest back.

are you sure you didn't abandon the quest instead of the duty?

Complaints about this glitch since September but no official solution for it yet. Short version of the 18 pages: you are screwed, nobody ever got help from SE about it in a way they can resume their quest where the progress was lost.

"Any loss of progress is a frustrating experience, since that involves not just gil, but time and effort that has been lost. At the current time, the GMs are unable to restore quest progress; however, due to reports like this, we are currently looking into how we may be able to assist with these issues. Voicing the way I'm feeling at this very moment would surely result in being banned from the forums...
