    gpu underclocking

iv been having this issue where my gpu underclocks it self when i'm in fullscreen and tab out i'm not really sure how it happens i don't really pay attention to the things i do

the only way i'm able to fix it is by disabling gpu and turning it back on or a simple restart

and no i know its not my pc because it also does it on my g75vx and only with this game i'm able to tell it underclocks because i use the on screen display that and i also start lag because of low fps

maybe some of you might be having this same issue and don't know about it? maybe some one knows a better fix?

Many of the newer cards do that for power management--when you go back to desktop, it lowers clock speeds (and sometimes voltage). Poke around in your graphics card's control panel or your OEM's main power management app and you may see options to override this so it stays full power all the time. The nVidia control panel list it specifically as Power Management--forget if the ATI CCC has it labeled as clearly. In older systems, people sometimes needed to use 3rd party tools to do it (like using ATI Tray Tools to manage clocks/voltage instead of the driver's built-in ATI Overdrive).

The game also has an option for reducing frame rate when the game is not in focus (when you alt-tab out, or if running in windowed mode you switch to another window it will cut frame rates really low). In the main section where you set basic display settings, down at the bottom under where you toggle frame rate caps, there is an option for limiting frame rate when the game looses focus. Forget the exact wording--don't have access to the game ATM to get it specifically.

Exactly. Try using something like MSI Afterburner (if you have an ATI card). You can watch the load jump and fall (you can also use this app to modify voltage settings and set your own clocks if you want). You can lock your states if you want to, but your card is doing what it should be doing. Not drawing as heavy as it doesn't have to render XIV right away and de prioritizes it as a backround app when tabbed out.

Depending on your card, and what you set overclocks to, it could be crashing. I run a gtx 680 and experience gpu crashes more often than i would like on the current beta drivers. The only other time i would have crashes is when my o/c is set too high. Oddly, it only crashes with FFXIV.

well like i said this problem also happens on my laptop it dosnt crash or anything only locks my clock speeds really low and im unable to reset them with out a restart or disabling it dosnt do it all the time just from time to time

i do use msi afterburner and i dont overclock them much only to 1250-1280mhz that's stable for me with out flashing the cards i have 2 asus gtx680 top so thay cant both be bad and my laptop and i know thay dont overhead keep track with osd

power management set to performance on pc and nvidia control panel

Have you checked your OS Computer Management(forgot technical name for this) for the windows logs? I forget the real name, but I know in my logs when this happens, there is usually an entry in there showing up as a warning.
