I've been there with FFXI. 6-man Nyzul group but 10ish regulars in the LS. couple of people always getting left out of NI for various reasons. They just get fed up and leave because the "static" isn't even willing to take them along as a learning experience.
We always make sure that every group can complete as many turns as they can. We only combine the strong people for turns 4 and 5 because not everyone in the group is ready for it. Once everyone in the groups are ready for turn 4 and 5, we don't combine the strongest people anymore. As I mentioned before, if I form a 3rd coil group, I would probably be in that new group to lead until I'm sure they can complete at least turns 1 and 2 smoothly.
