I'm hoping they will eventually add coil to duty finder. It would be a big help for players who aren't able to meet weekly scheduled raid times.

in my FFXIV play time i been solo like 90% of my time and thats since 2010. you dont need a LS/FC to get stuff done. i just got a new one looks easy going but serious, most "guilds" are full of crybabys and say they are not elites but they are and you happen to be in one of them.
if you know how to play the game thats all that matters, no one wants a geared noob.
You've never played an MMO in the end game before have you?
The problem I see is that a lot of Coil groups are making FC's, when they should be making LS's.
I've had some people leave my FC, for these Coil FC's, but I have to wonder how well they'll fair with the upcoming housing, CT, and once one of those 8 people decided they've got all the i90 gear they want. I highly doubt a lot of those FCs will still be going strong before 2.2 lands. It will probably even be worse because very little new endgame coming until the coil in 2.2.
I've had a few people ask to come back to my FC, but we're still gaining over 100 members. Pretty stupid to leave a FC with all your friends for one instance that will mean nothing in 4 years.
Coil = Segregation
No it is not, you can form it as a pug or you can make a static, you have the choice and the power to do so if you want to.
Have you brought up this discussion with the current static group in your FC...asking maybe to take some of the other members, maybe swap some people around that don't need a certain piece of gear on one of the turns, never hurts to ask and bring up issues with your fellow members, they might be kind enough to bring in other members to run BC with...but you won't know unless you ask. They've left everyone behind.. lol.. according to the members there's about 16 members in our FC that are doing coil, and they are the only ones doing coil together.. yet we have 88 members in total in our LS and 65 in our FC. Thus making FC valuable only for status buffs for those of us who are not part of the inner circle in our LS.
I don't see this as trolling. I think he has a legit concern.
You are telling him to leave his FC in order to join another FC.
He has a good point. The limitations put in by SE on coil does create friction among FC members. If you want to progress on coil, a group must be on the same levels and can't go back. What this means is you can't pick ppl from your own FC to bring them to your level. Meaning, that only a set core of 8 within the FC can participate. What this cause is that those that want to participate won't be able unless there are another set of 8 that can enter. But not all people are on the same level of skill or schedule.
Some can go at certain time, others can't go everyday, etc... So, it's very hard to coordinate a group that has the same schedule, gear ready, and other factors.
For example, if you have a set of 8 that goes on a set day and time, and let's say this group is on turn 4, but one member had an RL event or emergency and doesn't log in that day. The static group, have some choice, they can ask someone in the FC or shout, but what if those in the FC are all locked on turn 5, and some are on turn 1, now those on turn 1 can say they can go, but they are now locked from getting into turn 1-2 and missing on getting gear for that week. Those on turn 5 can't go due to the lock. Now, if the group can't get anyone because of these conditions, then there's no choice but to shout. What if these member missing from the party is a tank or healer, these are essential to succeed in coil.
There are other scenarios, but my point is that coil only separate players, instead of bringing them together and enjoy the game. Yes, this is a GAME, it's suppose to be fun for people.
I'll concede that a select group can create friction. My argument would be that instead of complaining about this, go out and find a group that has the same goals and expectations of the OP. I'd also say, that to those 8/16 people in the FC static, I bet they're having a blast.
Having just landed in a competent, care free, but effective static myself I've got to say; it's some of the most fun I've had gaming in years. This after transferring servers because I was unhappy with my FC and server population in my time zone on Masamune.
Get up, dust off, get your game face on, and stop letting other people negatively impact your experience. The ownership is on the player to choose whom they interact with and how. Not the devs. The OP can do more to combat his issue.
Your argument has merit, and I agree this could be an issue. My point is it's not a DEV problem.

I think it was SE's point too.
For example, I can only get one more healer item from T1. But four tank items on it. So, why would I go with my semi static (that refuses to let me tank) instead of looking for other people that needs a tank?
Grouping with other players outside your FC is fun. (Not to mention that grouping with other players allows me to get past ADS...)
I keep hearing some people say that they do Coil T1-T4 in 40 minutes, I wonder how much they're getting out of it (as in, how much fun). Doing the same thing, with the same people and the same exact strategy every week... booring.
People get left out are usually the ones that weren't performing, there isn't much OP can do other than make his own static or have the existing static level alts so that he can be in one.
If your FC is really committed to the welbeing of the FC they can level alts, that way some extras that couldn't make it to the weekday coil runs can be incorporated into weekend runs with alts, that way everyone get to do coil at least once a week.
