Most people take those who knows coil before, leaving newbies out, this includes pugs. so Like all things we form parties for, you have to take the initiative and form your own static, in the LS that I run with I'm just a fill in for I'm still new to most turns of coil, so if I wanted to get serious with coil I would have to build my own static.

I have to admit, I feel OP is correct.
The way coil is set up it basically promotes 8 man cliques. I see it in others, I see it in my group, I even see it in myself at times. It forces you to run with 8 people every week (f you want to make the most out of coil, that is). If you try to swap people around to keep things fresh, you start to run into all sorts of problems like scheduling, player compatibility (I don't like X because he's a doody head!), job compatibility, player loot priorities, etc, etc. My own FC leader quit because sorting out coil groups became more like work. Afterwards, a few people of the FC left and there were a few who were left in quite a predicament - I want to stay with this FC, but half of my group left. In the end they were damned if they do, damned if they don't because their group had such good loot distribution they didn't want to split up.
When I saw the Crystal Tower loot system all I could think was (after getting over the fact that CT even HAD a loot system) "Why couldn't coil have had that?" It allows everyone to play with anyone, regardless of whether they'd already ran coil that week. The current system really forces you to stick with your group of 8.

FFXI...then you've had experience with Assaults...with Salvage... While they didn't have the same style of lockout...they DID have limits as well as being low man. Already burned your assault tags? Can't help those friends now. Same 1 party's worth of people in a static group except with that content it was only 6 people not 8. Limbus was twice a week and despite being 18 man, a lot of groups ran with less to concentrate drops. YOu couldn't make it on Limbus night or were the 19th person in the LS to show up to Jeuno...too bad...you didn't get to run and the rest of the group was locked out for 3 days and you couldn't run in between w/o risking being locked out of the next run as well.

When it comes to FCs they need to be led properly. Especially with low man content. There's a lot of people who like to lead groups but you cant have more groups being formed then you have personnel to fill them. Just because you have a 100 person FC doesn't mean you need 10 Coil statics. Especially not if you only have a handful of tanks or healers, or half the FC is barely 50 and sporting AF. You can't bring in newer players then fill static spots with already geared people you PUGed with instead of building your new people.

In other words 1 LS can only create 1 FC. A player can only join 1 FC. The benefits of FC worth noting is status buffs.
Linkshells are chat channels and are meant to link people together to make it easier to find groups and/or socialize. FCs are the "guilds" of this game and will gain new functionalities and features over time. You're likely just used to linkshells being the "guild" system from XI or 1.0.

Our FC almost had the same problem, but we found a solution. We had 10 people and wanted everyone to be able to do Coil so I split the groups into 2. 6 people goes in the 1st group and the 3 others goes in my group. We then recruited people to fill the spots and eventually ended up with 2 static groups. My group waits for the 1st group to do their coil run to see how far they get. If they get turns 1-3 done, my group completes turns 1-3 then we merge the strongest players from both groups for turns 4-5. If I end up recruiting more people to the FC, i'll help the new people form their own static and do the same. I might split up my group for the first 2 weeks just so we can help the new group progress.

Does the remaining 8 person group run Turn 4-5 themselves as well? If so it would probably be a benefit to leave one of the stronger people out of the "strong" group to lead the other group. Otherwise you wind up with a "strong get stronger, weak get weaker" problem and the 1 or 2 that NEVER get to run T4-5 with the good group grow resentful and quit. I've been there with FFXI. 6-man Nyzul group but 10ish regulars in the LS. couple of people always getting left out of NI for various reasons. They just get fed up and leave because the "static" isn't even willing to take them along as a learning experience.

We always make sure that every group can complete as many turns as they can. We only combine the strong people for turns 4 and 5 because not everyone in the group is ready for it. Once everyone in the groups are ready for turn 4 and 5, we don't combine the strongest people anymore. As I mentioned before, if I form a 3rd coil group, I would probably be in that new group to lead until I'm sure they can complete at least turns 1 and 2 smoothly.

Player exclusion... its what kills MMOs imo. Every MMO I've played its always the same thing... raid group comes together... 1-2 people left out each week, leads to 'burn out' and then raid group falls apart as soon as you can't make a full raid.

The CT loot system would be HUGE for many FCs running multiple statics. Unbelievably helpful, its not even funny. As it stands with coil, you always have 9 people for an 8 man dungeon and you have to pick someone to sit. It sucks and it kills guilds/FCs faster than anything else.

On my server, people are shouting for PUG Coil groups all the time in Wineport, Revenant's Toll, and even randomly in Dragonhead and in the cities. There's tons of people out there looking for Coil groups. Go find some people and round them up and go in the Coil.

All I'm seeing here is you being too beta to get out there and make the friends and party you want to challenge the content you want to do.

Yeah, but these shouts are for what job? BARD, or WHM. It's very rare to see a shout for dps, and if there is, the person requesting will be bombarded with ten or more tells, unlike those two jobs I mentioned, so the chance that you get in, it's very slim. There's a problem with exclusion in coil and SE needs to retify it.
