Paladin in this game is the most boring/unfun class I have had the displeasure of playing in an MMO. People who say pld is "hard to master" are really really fooling themselves.

I prefer this order as it doesnt have any skill usage downtime due "off-gcd > gcd > off-gcd" now you can use SW while waiting GCD to go off after Flash.
What is fun is simply a matter of opinion. Do I personally like PLD? Oh my God, no. I think it's absolutely boring as hell. Do other people like it? Yes, they do. Do I have any right to judge them for what they like? Certainly not. I apologize in advance, as I am not actually a PLD, but I do have several friends who play PLD, and most of them like the class. I played Gladiator up until 22 just to get Provoke, and personally speaking... I couldn't wait for it to be over.
Something I do see a LOT of PLDs complain about though(and understandably so) is how their healing and support abilities are horrible. They spent the time to level Conjurer to 15 to unlock PLD, and yet all of the skills are absolutely useless which the exception of Stoneskin in some rare circumstances. I think what a lot of people would really appreciate is if their healing was on a nearly identical level to that of a Conjurer's. I personally think this would be okay balance-wise, since the only healing spell PLD would have access to is Cure. I think they could do well with a MUCH higher Mind attribute to make this skill more useful in some rare cases. I think it'd also be really cool if PLDs had access to both Aero and Esuna to help their SCH and WHM out a little more.

Or a trait to make our cure potency based on vit.

Tbh, I've not played a single class in this game where I've been all like oh boy, look how cool I am. With mages all planted in place while they cast, and the physical players just running around making with one flashy move (though I do like that they are flashy and expressive) after the next, no, mechanically, I've not seen anything I've found particularly awe inspiring.
The fight mechanics, on the other hand, during boss, even some trash mobs (usually bad pulls) is where I have my fun. And generally goofing around
You can get away with Sword Oath during Titan Heart phase. Otherwise yeah, if you're not doing WP/AK, I would stay in Shield Oath.You do realize that shield oath comes with a 20% reduction to the damage you receive.. so on.. .like nearly every fight it would be an awful idea to be in sword oath. Titan, Coil, even ifrit and garu depending on your gear (a full af pld shouldn't use sword while tanking garu for example). If I turned on sword oath while tanking twin I'd be dead within moments.
As for the topic at hand, I don't find PLD boring, but it can get tedious. Thing is, this game has the armory system, so I can switch to Monk or go play WHM or SCH if I need a change of pace.
PLD is probably the most boring class I've ever played in a game to date. Literally the only time I've enjoyed it is when I can just sit there and play with cool downs in an intense fight like Caduceus or Titan during the Mountain Buster phase. You know, when things hit hard and I have to manage incoming damage with all my cooldowns. And thinking on it it's only those 2 fights. Everything else is just boring.
I much prefer my WAR and plan to bury my PLD stuff once 2.1 hits.
For what it's worth, I felt the same way about Marauder, which I levelled to 30 to see the end of its storyline.What is fun is simply a matter of opinion. Do I personally like PLD? Oh my God, no. A tank healing almost as good as a dedicated healing class? That's...not balanced at all.Something I do see a LOT of PLDs complain about though(and understandably so) is how their healing and support abilities are horrible. That said, I don't see what the big deal is. Final Fantasy paladins have always had weak white magic. XIV's interpretation of that concept is spot on from a balance perspective. No, you can't expect to raise mid-combat because rezzes have prohibitive costs in modern MMORPGs (the fact that healers can battle rez is already more than enough).
You also can't expect your healing to be overly powerful, firstly because it adds to an already hefty survivability repertoire. Secondly because it would get in the way of our primary role as tanks.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
The only reason I like Warrior is because their animations are probably one of the coolest in game. For actually playing the class seriously? I tip my hat to those who can stomach it.
The question is pointless if it was asked seriously, as "fun" is all subjective. Besides, everyone knows that bard is the most boring job in the game, as least Paladin's have responsibilities. And no, silence duty is not a big responsibility as even a baby can do that. A bard's only big responsibility is knowing when to ballad, and many fail at even that.
Unless you make a huge mistake, tanking is harder to gauge than dps. For dps, its just numbers, the higher the better. But you can win most fights even with a shitty tank as long as your healer can keep up, and at the end of it all, few but an observant healer will be able to tell if the tank was shitty or not. There are so many Paladins who don't know how to flash Mountain Buster or how to properly manage their cooldowns and therefore have periods where they take massive burst damage.
