    Lightnig strikes level restriction

Why am I being punished for being new?

I can't even make a post on this forum without putting my sister's character as my main.

The first level restriction of the Lightning strikes event/quest is level 12, anyone can make that in a day, but chapter two is level 26, then 38,45.

I am level 22 and could make 26, maybe 38 if I worked really really hard before the event ends the 9th december. Why am I being punished?

I mean, the entire armor is level 13. Will I atleast be able to buy the rest of the armor at the end of the event? I really want this armor, but I see little reason to work so hard for it if I cant even have the entire set.

Sure I should be level 50 by "February 2014" but then there is someone else who will miss out, be punished (because that is what it feels like)

Couldnt seasonal/limited events be something everyone can partake in?

You said it yourself, it's a limited event. We are lucky that they will let it repeat at all in February, so I would be happy with that. Using your logic, someone who subscribes after December 9th and stops before February is "punished" because they were not even in the game to receive the quests, no matter the level! But that is the nature of limited events.

I have a job and a family and I also can't make the highest level for the quests. Why should I also be punished?

And why should you have access to a high-level content handed to you on a silver platter if you're barely playing the game?
It takes maybe two weeks of doing FATEs to reach level 45 from scratch, less, if it's your first character and you have quests to go around - and that'a playing merely a couple of hours in the evenings. If you can't spare even that, you have no right to complain, otherwise why bother playing games that require leveling at all?

But couldnt limited events be available to everyone that plays the game, and not just the high leveled players?

It would help keep the new players around.

uh...then they aren't limited and the reward is just another piece of garbage e very single player will have making it nothing special, so why even do it in the first place? I suppose if it was tht way, no one would see the reason for doing it thus making those who choose to do actually have a unique item?? Im not lv enough to do it all, I will be in feb, actually bummed they are gonna let it repeat...tho I can now finish it up, I like uniqueness, being cookie-cutter makes it very boring, new players will see some cool items with particle effects or whatever down the road, and think its cool that there are events awarding items that are unique, at least I for one have never seen an item in an mmo that was unique or special and not thought it was cool,

Its pure silliness to desire everyone to have every item, in that case why even require anything at all to obtain gear, just let every character have every item in their wardrobe and let them wear it at will?

Ok, I happened to be leveling another class on my character and I could get the quest but not turn it in until I was level 12. I could pick up the quest at level 6, complete it, but not able to turn it in. I hit 12, turned it in.

As far as the argument of being punished, well you are not being punished. You have to have level restrictions on events, its a reward for those who play a lot. A reward for putting in hours and weeks into the game. Does it suck not getting what you want when you want it? I at first thought crap, I will only get a few pieces, then I hear it will come out in February! I have no issue now, I am patient. Patiently waiting for more things in game that I cannot have now, but will get soon.

The game is SO much more than gear and dress up. Here is what punishment is, doing dungeons over and over and not getting the gear you want! I punish myself all the time. I hope you all see this as a way to look at it differently, its a reward not a punishment.

And can I ask what high level content we're talking about here? I mean, the rewards from this event are all level 13, right? Wouldn't logic dictate that the highest level requirement for completing this event be... 13??

Usually I would agree with most posters here when it comes to content level requirements, but frankly I don't think seasonal or limited events should be included in that. I don't mind having to level up to access normal always-available content, that is simply expected. But it has always annoyed the hell out of me when other MMOs have restricted seasonal events to max level players. They are short-term events with mostly only vanity gear, and should be available to all at a reasonable level. Especially in this case, where the usable gear you do get is only level 13.

Max level needed for this quest is 45, and as people have said numerous times already, it is NOT hard to get that level in a relatively quick time frame. Today is the 20th, Meaning you have over 2 weeks left to hit that level. Playing casually (2 hours or so a day) one could easily hit 45 (and I mean playing, not lazing around town). I do not see how people find the level restriction in this game daunting, it is very easy to level in FFXIV.

My wife and I both play and lead one of the largest free companies on Midgardsormr. We play casually. Maybe work on your time management.
