We took some time to consider all our options, and were eventually convinced to move to Lich as that's where we already knew some players in real life, and we had been invited to their guild.

When the time finally came for us to make the move, I was excited about journeying to somewhere different, nervous about what kind of people we would meet, and sad because we were leaving so many lovely people behind. It really wasn't all that different from moving house in real life.

But it wasn't long after the move that I began to feel like we had make a big mistake...

We joined our friends' guild and were excited at the prospect of playing with people we knew, and meeting new friends too. But we didn't exactly receive the warmest of welcomes. Instead, what we got from the other members were "Who are you?", "What are you doing here?" and "I wasn't aware we were getting new members.".

We learned very quickly that the guild was nothing more than a clique. Although the people who knew us in real life may have been happy to have us along, they were barely ever online. And the rest of the guild had their exclusive friends and didn't seem interested in making any new ones.

Whenever we logged on and greeted the guild via the FC chat, we were met with silence. And it wasn't because no one was there. They were simply ignoring us.

This was not what we wanted from a guild.

We had left our guild behind for this. Our friends. Our fun, active, server. We could have gone to any EU server, but we moved to Lich for these friends.

On top of our new unfriendly guild, and our almost empty server, my favourite raid was ruined by yet more unfriendly players. Crystal Tower had always been a favourite of mine, but after running it several times, I not only found that people on the EU servers had a god-awful tactic for tanking the Bone Dragon, but the servers seemed full of complete assholes.

I became very upset due to all of the above, and I began considering a move back to Gilgamesh. I was really unhappy on Lich and with the people we has encountered. On top of that, the server was dead compared to our old one, and the main reason we changed from an NA to an EU server was to find end-game progression groups. But there were none. The Party Finder would rarely have more than one group recruiting, and it was never for Coil.

Why did we come here? What have we done?

I worked up the nerve to speak to Kaze about how I felt, and he shared many the same feelings. He was as let down by the guild as I was, and as unhappy about the quietness of the server too. Another decision had to be made.

So we considered the options; move again, create our own guild here on Lich, or find another one to join.

Another real life friend had offered us a place in their guild. They had offered it from the beginning, at the same time as our other friends. But something niggled at me about them. At first, I put it down to their name, as I have a thing about guild names. They have to be original, inspiring, or catchy. And theirs just... wasn't. But it wasn't that. Something in my gut told me that joining them would be a bad move. And, given recent insight into their guild workings and member attitude, I'm really glad I went with my gut on this one.

So, around the time that we were planning to start our guild again, I came across a topic on the official FFXIV forums. I'd had a peek at various recruitment topics, but this one reeled me in completely. It read:

"Hello everyone!

We are recently arrived from Alexander (JP) with a half dozen of our core members. We were running HM Primals there, however decided to leave after the server transfer mass exodus of english speaking players. So, we are starting over.

What will you get with WoL? Well, it sounds cliche, but a group of friends who genuinely enjoy running with one another. We are only 13 strong atm, and are in no hurry to be a big FC. We are looking for people who value enjoyment of the game, and those you game with, above all else. We are very talkative, helpful, and welcome new players with open arms. Too often do we see people new to the game flamed because they are learning. That will not happen with us. All of this being said, we are all looking forward to endgame content, we just don't think of it as a race.

It sounded too good to be true! This was everything we'd been looking for! It was everything we'd had in our own guild before the server jump. And, with excitement, I informed Kaze. We were both happy to have finally found what we'd been looking for, but at the same, we'd all but given-up hope completely of finding any friendly players on this server, so it was with caution that we joined.

And from the start, we were welcomed with open arms. Everyone was friendly, interested to get to know us, and treated us like we'd always been part of the gang. Not once were we made to feel like outsiders.

Since then, Warriors Of Light have allied with another guild; Simulacrum. And they have been just as enjoyable to talk to and play with. We're so much a part of eachother that I often forget who's part of what guild. We're just one big happy family.

And, unlike some guilds, we remain open and excited to being able to welcome new members into that family. It doesn't matter what level you are, how long you've been playing, or what pace you like to play it - as long as it's friends and fun that you want; you're welcome here.

And that's why I wanted to make this post. This guild and all it's wonderful members completely turned around my Lich experience. And I want to thank every single one of them.

Warriors of Light sounds like fun.

A friend of mine and myself have been thinking about joining a FC for about a month now but we didn't find anything interesting yet. Hope i can have a chat with one of you in game about applying, i tried to look for some members but didn't find any today.
