Pretty sure she/he was directing that post at towards Alhanelem
As for you initial post, you can run two instances on run pc as stated above but as to using two sets of keyboard/mouses is a different story, i would assume that's where linux comes into it
I was directing to Alhanelem and I'll go back and quote to avoid more confusion. As to using mutli or single input control. it's gonna take some setting up.
You can find info to do it out on them interwebs. Again I wouldn't suggest Single input to multi characters. That is borderline botting. It will get you permabanned.
What he's really wanting is to control multiple characters. which you can do with some 3rd party tools to send mirrored controls to each
instance. I wouldn't suggest doing it though. Watched a dude have the ban hammer come down on him for controlling 8 players at one time
spiritbonding around northern thalan.
Start another Instance of the Game, after you have logged in. Works fine for me and is actually also to find in the Support Centre click.
Too many people missed the point of my post lol, failed attempt by me making a smartarse comment I guess.
The only way I could see that working is if one person used a game pad and the other mouse / keyboard. IIRC the game pad can be told to control FFXIV window thats in the background (non active window on second screen in this case), and as long as game pad controls are disabled on the active window the mouse / keyboard should only control the active window, while the gamepad controls the second window.
Two mouse / keyboards sound like way more of a headache to set up then just bringing a second PC.
use virtual machines
It's possible, but you would need about 16 gigs of ram, a killer video card, and your Host OS would need to be X64 Windows, e.g. Windows 7 X64 or Windows 8 X64. And you would want something like Windows XP for the Virtual Machine (before driver signing).
Get Virtual Box, Install it.
Create a Virtual Machine, Install Windows XP to it. Enable direct 3d in virtual box.
Install FFXIV on the Virtual Machine.
Copy the virtual machine's VDI/VHD image, use
vboxmanage internalcommands sethduuid "imagename.ext"
Create a new virtual machine using the copied image.
Run Both VM's at the same time, put one on each monitor, run FFXIV * 2.
Option 1: You can use sandybox. All you need is 2 controler or 1 controler and 1 keyboard/mouse. I've played V1.0 that way and it's extremely easy to set up. Option 2 : You use Windows! as explained in previous post. FFXIV ARR has a setup option to choose which controler you want to use so it's simple enough already. I used to play with my wife and V1.0 was taxing way more than ARR Back then i only had 3x 9800 GTX+ in sli. So i highly doubt a high end top pc would have a hard time running ARR x2.
