Was entertaining to say the least. Can't wait for tomorrow's QQ thread.
Was entertaining to say the least. Can't wait for tomorrow's QQ thread.
This thread was made a week too early imo. If there is no letter by the end of next week then I would be worried we're not seeing a patch this month.
When most of voted that we were down for them completely redesigning the game, they hopped to completely redesigning the worst aspect to most of the population which was the battle. But planning and implementing OF course don't take any time? /sarcasm. Seriously none of us have made a game so who are we to tell them how long it takes them to do anything?
If Yoshida can release a solid 1.18-1.2, he can start a little swagger in his step.
Everyone here will treat him like the 2nd coming of Sakaguchi if he succeeds, even the trolls.
He should take comfort in the idea that if he succeeds, he will be our go-to guy in Square Enix for life. I mean that's it. Saving this game is ALL he has to do to get a blank check on making any game he wants made. Anything.
And if he fails, we will not blame him. He inherited a boat at the bottom of the harbor. Lucky him.
well this is how i see it.
after the horrible launch of FF14. it was Tanaka's baby. the only honorable thing to do was to step down.
instead of throwing it all away. SE picked, asked or promoted someone with in the company. that someone was Yoshi-p
although im sure at first Yoshi probably didnt realize what a complete mess this game was.
slowly its coming around. i personally dont mind the wait.
but for gamers who game. going from hot game to next hot game. i dont think it would matter how fast or slow these updates come out
my hope is they can pull this off.
i support Yoshi-p and the whole SE team.
i think the thing is? the thing is the unknown. no one knows whats gona happen or what these patches will be like.
i really believe that SE has more to lose on this game then we do. we can just move on
if its a bust? then FF will never be the same
DO IT YOSHI!!! AND DO IT RIGHT!! <3

You know, the man is probably exhausted. He's having to eat, sleep, and breathe FFXIV.
Turning this game around isn't just important for the sake of a single title. Not even to make this right for the players who bought the game. There's a bigger picture. This has tarnished the name of the Final Fantasy series, which has always meant quality. Wada has publicly admitted there is an internal quality issue, and that there will be some major restructuring. Turning this game around will be proof that Square Enix is a reputable company who can still produce a quality product. If it fails, it will have a larger impact than just another failed MMO.
On top of all this, right now he's got a deadline to meet with 1.18 and E3 right around the corner (which probably doesn't affect the team since E3 is usually for up and coming projects, but who knows what's going on behind the scenes).
The pressure is on. Sometimes I wonder how he sleeps at night.

Like most devs on a tight "Get this right/out" schedule, he doesn't. Funny enough, people tend to side with the "I'm against SE and XIV and I'll be vocal about it" camp, yet if you say something reasonable or, you know intelligent, you get labeled a fanboi, defense force or idiot. Complaining is fine, but constantly complaining about *** they know is already wrong and have STATED is going to be worked on..does no good especially constantly posting soandso sucks.
If something is THAT BAD to you..why not leave? Serious question. Why stick around spreading negativity and trolling instead of just..leaving and saving yourself the time and energy?

@Peregrine
Ehhhh.... sorta. If he fails, I will certainly blame him. As the producer, he should have to sign off on everything that gets added to the game. If it turns out to be crap, then it suggests that his standards are not up to par (in my mind, anyways). That said, I'm certainly hoping that 1.18 turns out well!

I agree with you Neptune, there needs to be a little more tolerance, but at a middle ground. I'm quiet by nature, and I've come to the conclusion that people listen to someone more when they choose their words carefully and present a well thought out argument.
I'll admit, yep there are plenty of valid complaints and that everyone has them. The problem is, half the forum sounds like a group of screaming preschoolers who aren't getting icecream every day. Like seriously, sorry guys.
What I very respectfully disagree with you on (and you're someone I can relate to, even) is that my arguments are poorly thought out.
Knowledge is power. However passe (sorry, no accents due to sheer laziness) this phrase may be, it's true. The information was out there. There were videos and reviews, biased both for and against this game. I purchase absolutely nothing before doing the most thorough research I possibly can, simply because my money is worth something to me. I work hard for this ***.
That being said, I had the experience and knowledge to make an informed decision *before* I preordered the game. Once open beta was out, there were no NDAs - anyone and everyone could see what was going on, what sucked and what didn't. This game was no surprise.
Yet I still bought it. I made an informed decision, however irrational to someone else it may be, but the fact is I bought it. And I would buy it again today. Not because of a blind love for SE/FF, but because I know it's a brand new game with tremendous potential.
It seems people are blinded to that fact, which brings me back to Alerion's point, and my opening statement. Come to a middle ground. Quiet down and handle things like a mature adult. And if you haven't reached adulthood yet, handle things in a more mature age-appropriate manner. I want to see the game succeed as much as you, but after seeing gifthorse/vesp bring up troll thread after troll thread I'd much prefer they just leave and find another game to be unhappy with, as there is no pleasing people like that.
Even WoW, where you're handed pretty much everything on a silver platter, couldn't make these people happy.
