Vesp/Gifthorse threads: Like a bad wreck on the interstate. You shouldn't look, but you do out of morbid curiosity.
And Yoshida isn't broken, he's busy. He knew full well what he was getting into, including the whiny playerbase

Considering the sheer number of troll posts on the English forums, I'm surprised he hasn't told us all to go f!&$ ourselves yet. I wouldn't blame him either for wanting to do so.

The fact that you can call anyone whiny when it comes to this game is laughable. I suppose if you were to go buy a new car, only to find you couldn't drive it off the lot due to not having an engine you'd just puff your shoulders out and take it like a man.
Most every complaint is valid. Fact is, the game still sucks, coming up on a year after launch. It is obvious that those who hate this game, yet stick around, do so to better the game and support the company.

It's not the complaints themselves, it's the way the complaints are presented. Instead of being mature about it and presenting a problem like an adult, you get DIS GAEM SUCKS AMG FEEX NAO OR I KWEET.The fact that you can call anyone whiny when it comes to this game is laughable. Stop that. Seriously. You're only making yourself look like you haven't gone through the terrible two's yet.
Yeah the game sucks. One cannot deny the stark reality of this, but there are better ways to address issues. Sorry there are no instant responses and devs being at the playerbases' beck and call. They have jobs to do - specifically to make your game better so you stop ***.
edit: Also, car analogies are pointless, because if you didn't test drive the car before buying it, you're an idiot.
If you read the reviews and still came to the game with expectations of it being any different than the reviews, you're the very definition of insane.
If you *didn't* read the reviews, you make my head hurt. It's 2011, the internet is pretty much everywhere and is required to play this game. Why in God's name would you not put forth the half an hour to hour of your life before you threw down 60-80 dollars of your money and read up on the pos you were getting yourself into? Unless you like punishment, then that's really none of my business.
If I come off as harsh, good. Because half of you people need a reality check. I knew what I was getting myself into when I bought the CE. I signed up for and played through the horrid beta with it's unusable UI, and I've seen this game come a long way than what it was before Yoshida.
And it'll only get better.

Well said. The fact that you can call anyone whiny when it comes to this game is laughable. I suppose if you were to go buy a new car, only to find you couldn't drive it off the lot due to not having an engine you'd just puff your shoulders out and take it like a man.

If I come off as harsh, good. Because half of you people need a fraking reality check. I knew what I was getting myself into when I bought the CE. .
And just for the hell of it: Alerion didn't say anything about the complaint's presentation when he said they were valid.. so why aren't you agreeing with him? Ah, because you have a point to make. Yet, how strange that you didn't make your own point without appearing to be in opposition to Alerion's post. How do you explain that?
The car analogy is good. The analogy is, players trusted Square Enix if they bought the game expecting quality. Your criticism of his point takes nothing away from the concept that players' whiny complaints are related to their reasonable expectations of Square Enix. You were criticizing his point - do you disagree that whiny complaints have been made based on expectations of quality?
I knew what I was getting into when I bought the CE too, and I'm still proud to be a FFXIV player. But I'm not arguing with other people on baseless points. Alerion's point is that we should show a little respect to people more whiny than us and I think that is a nice thought. They are here because they care about the game. So what do you have to gain by attacking that point? If I had to guess I would say you're defending your own poorly thought-through ideas just because you have nothing else to say. Kind of like how a squirrel runs up a tree because it has nothing else to do.
My next post will be in defense of Aver's poorly thought out arguments, although I might need a little more to go on than FFXIV drama.
I have a few points:
1) Vesperia, you aren't fooling anyone. You are gifthorse, and your spamming is getting silly now. Just give it up, before you end up with another forum holiday. No one is amused, but most have you on ignore. I only removed you to read this thread, as it looked like it might have some interesting points.
2) I do sympathize with Yoshi-P to a point. He has stepped into a very broken ships helm, and it is already on fire, falling through the atmosphere. He is going to have to do something pretty magical to get it back onto a flight path we are all comfortable with, and not having us diving for the escape pods (metaphors are fun ^_^).
3) SE need to start compromising. They are not going to get any further with their attitude that we will just continue to wait. It is now time for them to show us what they are willing to do for their customers. I am not opposed to paying for this game, I would be very happy too, but until I see something worth paying for, I won't. SE need to stop with the promise of new and exciting adventures, and fix the ones we are all currently having.
I totally understand it is a big job, but after a year (soon), not much has improved. Either we see the basics sorted, so the game is no longer a deterrent, or your last remaining die hards are going to be gone too SE.
I sometimes worry that your company doesn't understand the serious situation it is in. You are selling licences left, right and centre, cancelling projects, and losing money. You can't rely on your die hard fans much longer, because you are losing them too. Your company always reminded me of Peter Pan. It never needed to grow up because it always had fun in mind, and fantasy worlds, but now, it might just be the time for you to grow up and face life as an adult.

The only thing I could see in my head while I was reading this was the Tantalus airship from FFIX.I have a few points:

And now I want to go play IX and can't because I'm at work.

Well, I think that it's not the community that is to blame. The community did reality check him in an unfortunate way a couple of times. First in response to his first light-hearted letter, and second in a couple of trolls in the Japanese earthquake well-wishing thread. But I think the biggest reason behind the decline in his producer's letters is that he has been sobered up by the shortcomings of the FFXIV development team. He has seen their lack of ability firsthand and it is that that has taken the spring out of his step.

I've read this and I'm not even high.If you harken back to our earliest and fondest memories of Yoshi-p (the bright and keen young man from six months ago), a comparison to the Yoshi-p of today would suggest he has lost something - primarily the trusting and hopeful nature he was born with. A cursory glance at the decline in literary flare of his Producer's Letters is proof enough of that.
Our constant complaints and double-guessing have worn him down and caused him to grow up way too fast. He promised us so much and all we did was throw it back in his face like last week's garbage. Is this what you really wanted? Is it? To wear the poor man down to breaking point?
For shame.
Yoshi-P has his vision and the judge fist on what we suggest. What the hell are you thinking?

Now you know why Tanaka has the face that he has.
(He is actually only 26)
