As noted earlier, that is an older generation card. SE has a nasty habit of not always getting along with the latest and greatest drivers on older cards. Frequently the solution has been to revert to older drivers when using older cards. XI ran great for me on 9.1 drivers with my 4870 (drivers from Jan. 2009, card was from 2006 I think). It ran XIV well as well--just needed more memory mostly. I'm now running it on a 5870 using 11.10 drivers (Oct. 2011, forget the card's release date... think it was around 2009 or 2010)--but that is an XP box. On my Win 8.0 laptop, it's running well with an nVidia GTX670MX and 3.11 drivers (around Nov. 2012 I think for the drivers, card may be a late 2011 release, not sure).

But.. you are running the newer Win 8.1.

Which may be a larger part of your issue--Windows 8.1. You may not be able to revert to older drivers due to you running 8.1. Could try it though I guess. 8.1 came out around the same time as the drivers you are using. There have been a lot of glitches and snafus with 8.1, and XIV was no exception. Considering your drivers and 8.1 were released publicly around the same time frame, it is possible you may need newer drivers to get around some issues found after 8.1 released.

If you want to test different drivers (older or newer), you can find a decent collection of drivers at www.guru3d.com. They also have some driver cleanup utilities to help you get a clean wipe of the current drivers before installing new ones.
