How would you feel about a wagering system in FFXIV?

I feel one area of the game lacking at the moment is mini games, fun activities that are small and simple yet addictive and can actually add a lot of value to customers with very minimal effort from devs. I can't count how many hours I lost playing triple triad on Final Fantasy VIII, and during these early days of FFXIV when content is still expanding and players are complaining of nothing to do because of lockouts it's these types of activities that can really make the difference.

The wagering system could be set for each specific activity, or could just be system wide and let you wager on almost anything you wanted with another player similar to the trade system. It could be used for activities like PvP and further down the line Gold Saucer for chocobo racing and the like.

It could have some negative impact on the economy however, and you don't see gambling much in MMO's so I guess there's a reason. It might still be worth exploring the idea though. Thoughts?

I'd like a spectator mode for Duty Finder, where you can watch Duty Finder PUGs and place wagers on if they'll wipe, how many times the BRD will get hit by plumes, etc.

I would love to see the Final Fantasy 8 card game in this game, spent countless hours collecting those cards in that game. Even started playing it again just to play the card game, took 30 tries to get Zell's mom to finally play her Zell card . Would also like a spectator mode for Duty Finder, that would be interesting. Have a wager to see how many times the Paladin forgets to stun the eruptions in Ifrit HM lol, don't care how good a stunner they say they are, i always move.

That would be a great ideia, like to wager on pvp battles or since chocobo breeding (read that somewhere i think) is coming some day, we could breed them and race and there would be wagers!
That would be awesome!
