Basically what he's saying that every addition to the tower will get harder. The next addition will likely be as hard as turns 1-5 of coil. While coil ups the ante. Crystal tower will always be the stepping stone into coil. And thanks to the design they can use it until the servers shut down. Because not only can they go up but they can do an upside down version.
It's a way of recycling content without actually forcing us to repeat the same fights. I think it's brilliant especially if they put in an option to pass up the old floors once there's a level cap raise/gear becomes too out of date.

I've been playing since the open beta, and I've taken my sweet, sweet time. I've just got around to grinding HM Ifrit for weapons (because I love just having them lol). And now I'm going to go to Garuda after that.
But wait, King Mog is between Garuda and Titan in difficulty? Whaaaaaaaaat? What a coincidence! CT is supposed to be done before BC? Whaaaaaaaaat? How convenient! Haukke Manor was my Amorites story dungeon? Well now I get to tdo it again!
I may be the minority in that respect, but I'm in love with this update. There's so much stuff I'll be able to do in its right progression lol.
Its a good idea in practice, but frankly I don't know how successful the event can be with a "Win only 1 drop a week" lockout on it. Even as a "Gearing up an alt class" mindset, its slow and clunky. It'd be nice if they did away with that restriction, or at least increased the number to something like 2 or 3.
Its not as bad as it could be, and while I support what Crystal Tower is as its a smart move, at the rate of 1 Item a week, It'll take you around 3 months to gear up on the Item level the current CT offers... I guess casual gaming means gating you as much as possible so you don't cry yourself to sleep at night knowing somewhere in the world theres an MMO player better geared than you because they devoted more time to the game?

You are assuming there's accessories and main gear.
6 gearsets * 11 pieces per set = 66 drops / 4 bosses = 16 or 17 items in each bosses loot pool. This happens in Coil, but since you get 2 chests per boss it isn't so bad.
6 gearsets * 5 pieces per set = 30 drops / 4 bosses = 7 or 8 items per loot pool. Much more reasonable when you only get 1 chest per boss.
You are also forgetting that CT is supposed to supplement Myth capping and Primal Accessory farming on the way to Coil. 3 items a week, when you add in those 2 as well.
Sounds more like one step back, two steps forward to me.
Every odd number (2.1, 2.3, 2.5...) will bring content with inferior difficulty and gear than the last, but even more restricted.
Every even number (2.0, 2.2, 2.4...) will bring content with "regular" difficulty, but made nearly impossible because it came earlier and created a gear gap.
Hardcores are forced to stay because thanks to the gear gap, they need the Myth gear for the last boss (which, obviously, is restricted)
Casuals are forced to stay because they can't do anything in Coil, and Crystal Tower/new primals gear is even more restricted.
That is, if they don't give up and go to a game with a normal progression.
I meant in terms of progression. It's faster to get gear from Myth and the harder content than the Crystal Tower.

Inb4 "omg the que times are horrendous, 8 hours...." because everyone gets their 1 drop and quits queing for it.
