We need a best in slot Summoner Discussion

Howdy,

I am Suda. On Lamia, sadly I am the most geared Summoner. I go on FFXIV Armoury to look at top iLvL summoners on there. I am still very confused on what best in slot is for our class and how I should go about spending my tomes, replacing my vanya, and which allagan pieces I ACTUALLY want. Here is my gear

Oh, and can we get some stat cap numbers for Int, Crit, Det, and Spell speed? I think that would CRUCIAL as well

There are no stat caps for any of those that are reachable with any current level of gear.

(For fun, Crit caps out at 1,710 total crit rating, which is 100% crit.)

Focus crit and determination. Which one first ? Dunno... Guess after reaching 500 crit unbuff, we gonna focus deter.

Head / chest / gloves => AF+1
Legs / belt / feets => Allagan
Neck / one ring => Heroes
other ring / other jewelry => Allagan

Allagan ring of casting is quite "meh". Might want a quad-meld ring?
Mytho stuff this is the order I got them:
+1 relic, chest, head, gloves (this coming monday)
Allagan stuff I've acquired: Belt, Pants, Ring - just need those boots to drop! D:

Reading around, listening to people, reading other topics, my main idea over Best in Slot gear for summoner is this one:

Weapon: Allagan
Hat: AF2
Body: AF2
Gloves: AF2
Belt: AF2
Pants: AF2
Boots: Allagan
Neck: AF2
Earrings: Allagan
Wrist: AF2
Ring: AF2+Allagan

Consider that most people says this is the "standard":
Weapon: Allagan
Hat: AF2
Body: AF2
Gloves: AF2
Belt: Allagan
Pants: Allagan
Boots: Allagan
Neck: AF2
Earrings: Allagan
Wrist: AF2
Ring: AF2+Allagan

Here are the reasons why this changes:
- Some people suggested not go over 500 crit, with that gear I'm on 518
- Pet doesn't stack with food, so having 445 is a requirement to cap pet accuracy, some people don't like it, others say is very important. With that gear you have + 107 which is 448 accuracy

That's all. Yea too much AF2 =\

Just to comment on this part:
1) Why would people say not to go over 500 crit?
2) I realize that the pet mechanic changes things slightly, but in every game I've ever played, accuracy caps are the most beneficial thing to hit first. I'd have to agree with the people saying to go ahead and cap it for the pet, too.

I value spell speed more than DET.

No actual value or stat weights have been found for SMN, but it's generally accepted that CRIT is leagues better than everything else.

Here is what I think is BiS, getting to 450 accuracy:

Myth Head
Myth Chest
Myth Gloves
Myth Belt
Allagan Legs
Allagan Boots
Allagan Neck
Crafted Earrings - +6 PIE +6 DET +12 ACC +3 CRIT
Allagan Bracelets
Myth Ring
Allagan Ring


I have everything but the T5 stuff(neck/weapon). I'm using Myth/Relic+1 until I get them.

The trade off for using crafted earring+2x allagan instead of allagan earring+2x AF2:
50 crit 6 PIE vs 4 INT 11 DET 14 Spell Speed.

I personally value 50 crit and 6 PIE more than that.

Until proper weightings have been tested out(anecdotal evidence points to DET being horrible), I will continue to gear in my way. Let's hope for good luck on t5 drops..

BiS for SMN right now is as subjective as it gets. In the end, whatever you decide to go with is probably within a fairly small range of whatever is the true BiS. Except for the 427 accuracy set, that's just potato.

My gear plan right now is to simply get everything that can be useful. That means everything from Myth minus earrings, and belt/legs/boots/accessories from Allagan. Once our SMN theorycrafting God finally appears before us I will be ready to heed his command.
