Firstly may I ask why you play this game at all ?

Your post indicates that you do not play for fun or embrace and experience gaming with other people outside your own social circle.

I have said this before to many people --- A game is what you make of it !

Fates are fun if you get a party of 8 people from friends or PUG and go to areas noone bothers with, yes its not the best EXP but its still 12-18k most of the time and a lot more entertaining.

Another great bit of fun is big game hunting with a healer friend --> Basically go to a large fate area on a tank class that well geared and tank the bosses for the fate grinders its a challenge trying to keep hate against many tanks and good fun.

There are many other fun things to do like helping random parties through hydra/titan etc with a good group of 4 people.

On to your point about Free companies (NOT GUILDS):

This is probably my biggest annoyance in this game thanks to FCs the mentality of "I will only do things with my FC(guild) has entered FF" Here is an idea that worked in FFXI and FFXIV 1.0 join multiple LS have multiple friends outside you FC as essentially an FC is meaningless apart from a few extra perks like housing and minute bonuses.

An example is my coil group, we have a great time playing together pretty much every night and you know what we have about 5 different FCs between us.

how did we find each other ?

well funnily enough I run a cross FC LS with about 25 different FCs in it and guess what ?

when people ask for help I go help. I have helped any other FCs out when they needed a tank or a healer and made friends with many of them as such I made a name for myself in these FCs as a "good player" and from there I was asked to join a number of coil statics and other statics.

Basically what I am saying is this patch is great for people who actually want to do different things in game with different people, and experience not only loot but also have fun with the quests.

I really pity the people in restrictive FCs that state you cant do anything outside the FC.

Also Duty roulette again is designed to integrate the community and help people !, if more people helped others this community would not be in toilet its currently in.
