So cha. I got this game along with my friends from beta. We had fun, and we enjoyed it together. Blah blah, good times. When I first touched this game in beta, I was a Monk, and it was fun and I loved the way they did the game. I wanted to become a Gladiator, because, well, it's cool.
So one of my friends became a Black mage, the other, a Monk, Another was a dragoon, and lastly my other friend became a healer. With me as the Paladin we almost all had our own thing going. When the game came out for people who preordered I hit the ground running, reaching lv 50 before all my friends. I was way, WAY ahead of my friends, but then I hit a very annoying wall.
Trying to get the philosophy and mythology tombs was LOADs harder for a tank than it was for a healer or a dps it seemed. I found myself, even in the later parts of the game with the coil, always being way behind because of the way they handed the armor system.
For example. I'm sitting on 800 Myth because I need to save up for my legs and feet simultaneously simply because the armor designer thought it was a smart idea to put the two lv 70 items into one single item. I had to deal with this same problem with my head and chest. Sure the jump in power is massive when you double upgrade from one lv 70 dark light thing into two lv 90's but it puts me behind week to week.
My black mage friend almost has full lv 90 in every slot, and my Monk friend is ready for turn 5 while I'm here being unlucky in coil and not being able to upgrade my equipment effectively. Because this bullshit, I went from being extremely ahead to being a week behind in armor lv every other week.
So now my friends are complaining about why I'm so behind, and they don't understand that because they're upgrades are always consistent, they were able to hit coil before me. Like, my Monk friend had his +1 and a lv 90 chest for example and was doing turn 2, and I'm just here like. Gee I wish I could just get my +1 and lv 90 chest and not have to worry about the AK head I have on. It was like he got a 4 point upgrade while I went up 4 points and down 2. Sure I upgraded, but not at the rate as he did. So I'm basically like two coil weeks behind because of the annoying bullshit.
P.S. I've done coil on my friends Monk account. DPS's job is easy street. I had to lv a healer class to even be a PLD, and I'm now about to reach lv 50 with my white mage. Why is it that tanking is harder than dps and healing, but the rewards are bullshit backwards?
I don't know, maybe I'm just stressing things out because my friends don't seem to even want to understand the obvious limitations during the early stages of late game and how it effects how long it takes me to transition into true end game.
Also, I feel like Yoshi-p did some hax stuff to increase the black mage drops during the early stages of this game of the early months because my friend who started the same time I did almost has full lv 90 gear best in slot. They should make it so the paints or feet have an increased drop rate so that tanks can get out of their jail. I mean, it's too fucking late for me, but maybe some other tanks can lv up to the same level as a dps and healer at the same rate.
