Suspicious Activity: Logging in from laptop while traveling

A number of times now when I go to log in on my laptop, I get the account locked because of suspicious activity warning.
I use my one home PC and the same laptop, so why does this happen? Does the server only look at IP and not the system?
I just added a token to my phone, so will see if it still happens. If it does, then S-E needs to figure out a better way to detect suspicious activity.
