As a compensation, they should give some unique prestige item to all current (beta) players that gains you an instant 25 levels in the job of your choice.

But I'm likely alone in this opinion.

yup you are super alone, i wouldnt mind giving up all my cash, but my levels? naah, especially those crafted levels i earned.

far as botters they cause inflation because they are robots. their are certain tasks that actually generate straight up gil, gathering, leves, and killing monsters, this puts money or items which can be sold into the market, these items have a base npc value. The fact that these robots can do these things forvever increases the amount of gil in the market, it then gets passed around, etc

Far as solving botting, dunno how, people got levels, and money off it. Only an extremely aggresive perma ban system could really dent it. that would get rid of the levels gained, but then they d need some strong gil sinks,
they could have some sinks that are relative to the wealth of the server, but honestly that would mostly hit the poor./middle class people.

It would also be an extremely obvious gil sink.

Best answer, hmmm probably gambling, but there arent that many items worth gambling for.

Yeah gambling is probably the best answer, it produces much less than it takes out of the system, people find it entertaining, and even if the reward is only money, they get to shuffle money around taking a tax at every transaction.

Some other things might be skill based but with fees.

Some of the rewards could be like boosted exp items, which have no real monetary value. cosmetic costume pieces could also work, but they would have to institute a cosmetic costuming option.

But for any of this to matter, they would have to basically perma ban botters, and come up with systems that greatly curtail thier use. because it will only solve things if you can dramatically reduce cheaters.
