    No, they shouldn't be based on job. People continue to remain under the false impression that they can't play their other jobs without the locked-out gear, and that's simply bullcrap. Freely available ilvl70 tomestone and crafted gear and relics is enough to challenge pretty much everything in the game. In the amount of time that has passed, players could have potentially gotten several +1 relics and some ilvl90 gear from coil for several jobs. Players should choose between prioritizing their favorite class to max out or making all of them very good. Since you have the option of leveling alts, the most insane hardcore players that absolutely must be the best at everything RIGHT NOW!!1!11! can use that, which is perfectly allowed and OK within the game. For virtually everyone else this is a non-issue.

    The only reason anyone is QQing about this is they hate having to make decisions about their character, something that, even in FFXI until the last few years, was both an important part of the game and one few if any complained about.

    Loot lockouts exist in all MMOs to pace the clearing of content and obtainment of loot with the developer's ability to create content. As time goes on, this issue will become less and less of a problem as you'll be able to play different raids/dungeons/bosses to gear up different jobs and lockouts will *effectively* be per job.

    TL;DR as the game grows this problem will gradually go away.
