Yes there is potential but it's up to Yoshi and co to make it happen. Currently we have an open world with no meaning, we have dungeons that dont change its always the same. The world needs dynamics and if that means making content viable by making mobs pose a threat, mobs have there own personalities, extending there leashes and making the spawn points great than they need to do it. Add content that isnt instance and that isnt a free for all. Just because WoW had great success with the design dosent mean XIV will. This is where the issue is and Yoshi and co need to realize. There needs to be long term goals currently there is none, other than achievements.
Thats incorrect, it makes it so even the casuals cant get but one piece of gear per week. If they wanted to they could put a low drop rate (just like 1.0 and XI) on the CT gear and players could spam it all they want that would be more interesting than a loot lock out, but than some players would complain because THEY ARE NOT BE REWARDED. This is why we have the loot lock out not because players spam content all day but because PLAYERs (not all) demand that they be rewarded for there time. I am fine with a very low drop %, it dosent bother me at all, but its others that have the issue and thats why we have what we have.
Lazy... I don't think rebuilding an entire game, appeasing share holders, and launching one of the most successful P2P games in the last decade would qualify as Lazy. You know what does? Bitching about how bad a game is when you've only successfully mastered (I use the term loosely) a small portion of content and game available to you.
Maybe stop trying to zerg the endgame content like the entitled, want everything NOW GOGOGOGO players that you most likely are. Just a thought.
beyond fates the open world is dead which is a shame its pretty. I miss going to dungeon sites made it feel more like an adventure. see everyone out side of the howling eye resing dead parties. the world feels disconnected from the players. the world is just a interactive hub from duty finder
is that a jab i see? hahahahahhah.
as a note, i like this game, most likely as much as you or Max does. at the moment i am still having fun because there is simply content i haven't reached yet. sure that might change in a few months or so, but at this moment, this is not so. i asked him "why is he here?" because sometimes its better to take time off from something that is no longer fun until it gets something that raises ones interests. (at least, thats what a previous experience with another game taught me.)
I'm not oblivious to the lack of content, but i don't find it disappointing that it is the case. this isn't the first time i have seen that. Most games like this take quite a long time before they get up to speed with regular patches.

- dynamics always make gameplay for anything a worthwhile experience (as long as RNG isn't total crap though).
- having less fates and instances (though a certain two fates i would rather be an instance) would be beneficial, as long as they don't go the notorious monster route with XI (just more unneeded farming). making it so that FATEs do not show up your map menu would make me very happy. random events wouldn't be so bad either.
- (dislike for wow template in non WOW game understandable)
this game actually has a few "long term goals" though. they are set in stone, but the current content in the game does not realize either of said goals. maybe one day, in a few years they will be realized, but most likely not any time soon.

This. So much this. Couldn't agree more. Most MMOs feel like glorified lobby games recently.beyond fates the open world is dead which is a shame its pretty. You say only elitists have every job with full DL and u can't bother with that, yet your altitude clearly states you want competition and cant stand "anything more than 9 minute WP runs"...*scuffs* oh the irony. You're like a wanabe Elitist (by your own definition of being competitive) then by your own words since you dont have the ability to grind out the rest of the gear for your alt jobs. That's the plan, but we're true fans of FF and this game so we would like to fight for it before giving up on it. If they continue this route, and just like the title of this topic says, we'll be forced to quit due to the direction of the game is going. We're a small group of people who likes to be competitive. Lockouts kills competition and does not allow for people to put more time into their characters to get stronger. Without competition, there is no motivation. Without motivation, there is no reason to continue.
