Content Becoming Easier in the Future

There are a lot of people who do not like this (including me). I've had the game since launch and I just finally completed the main story. I move at a casual pace. However, that isn't to say that I don't want to experience the challenges this game has to offer. We have been told that there will come a time when players will receive a buff to allow them to complete the more difficult older content to catch up with the rest. Here is my solution:

Allow players to play old outdated challenges with the original level cap / item-level cap the challenge had upon its initial release. Award unique achievement items for players able to complete these challenges (players who completed these challenges upon their initial release would obviously also receive these awards without any additional action on their part). I think something like this would go a far way in pleasing both casual and hardcore players.

They won't be making the content itself any easier, they'll just be applying the echo buff to older turns of Coil and such. The echo buff is not automatically applied; it triggers on death and gets stronger the more you wipe meaning things won't instantly be easy mode, you can still challenge it at the original difficulty first.

There is already some help in place to some degree. You can get furniture/vanity items from the hard mode primals already... Granted, the items they turn into aren't implemented yet, but it's coming soon!

I foresee more people farming HM Titan, Garuda and Ifrit for these items once housing comes out. This would mean that people that already know how to win these fights will be helping out people just doing it for the first time.

I farmed Garuda for a while yesterday for myth tomes and to try to get my feather and I got one! I already got my Titan heart as well... Just need a Ifrit horn still. Sadly people think I'm nuts cause I can't even use them yet, but it's stuff to do!

I think them doing stuff like this makes more sense than nerfing the fights. Having someone to help you, that knows the ropes is better than just making the fight less fun.

You can click the buff off like any other beneficial effect by right clicking it in your buff list.

To be fair, no progression- or loot-minded FC is ever going to do this. (I tried for YEARS to get people to "turn off the nerfs" in WoW heroic raiding.)

And this isn't a new thing, especially with attunement gating. Leaving the difficulty as it was prevents people from getting to current content and serves no other real useful purpose. You saw it in vanilla WoW, you saw it in BC - having to get a new replacement in your main raid team geared by first running Karazhan over and over, then SSC/TK over and over and then BT/Hyjal over and over before you could FINALLY introduce him to your raid team that was progressing through Sunwell that desperately needed that class.

It's better design this way. It's better for alts, it's better for FC recruitment and the nerfs won't happen until the content is old and outdated.

Do you really want your new SCH who's replacing the SCH you've had for ~6 months getting stuck on HM Titan because DF before you can get him into Coil turn 9 or whatever? (as an example)

Well, you can't kid yourself. As they introduce new gear and new content, old content can't help but get easier. If you wait another year to do Coil, you simply won't have the same experience as those players that did it last month.

Luckily with the route they're taking you can simply remove the buff. So the option to complete content in the original form will still exist. Much MUCH better than redesigning it to be easier.
