SE Censoring Emote ability due to select few is not the answer.

People will use emotes for sexual things, this is nothing new. It's not about policing people on the internet, it should be about educating the public. It may no tbe SE job to educate, that falls on to parenting and/or friends. Educate kids in the old school tradition...my mom taught me growing up to never talk to strangers.

In this day and age, I would tell my kids it's important to not give people you don't know information about you. Don't talk to strangers, don't think that everyone on the internet is out to be your friend. If any parent is actually following the ratings system of this game then your kid would be 13 and as a result I am 100% sure they can handle what you're going to tell them.

It might not be SE's task to nanny this big and mature community, but it's in their biggest interest to make a difference between something subtle and something explicit. We might find references and analogies about sex and other delicate subjects, but they're not explicit and rubbed on your face with images. We have underage people playing FF14 and while SE can't control what those people browse they can keep them from doing more "graphic" acts in the game (SE seems to not give a damn about what ppl already do, but it might be one of the cases of "I don't tell if you don't, so enjoy"). One thing is you mention sex around an underage (it happens), another is your selling /showing it to them. I think SE save themselves from much more trouble by "censoring" and have all those freedom thirsty mature people crying about in the forums than keep it in game.

Clearly many care. Please do not demean people who think differently from you.

This has nothing to do with wanting to do "dirty" things with an emote and everything to do with opposing an absurd, utterly pointless restriction on content. As a roleplayer, there are many scenes in which a laying down emote could provide significant immersion, such as relaxing on a beach or elsewhere, or when you need to RP someone who is wounded or ill or whathaveyou.

I think its just another example of SE short sightedness & laziness. They probably didn't think people would want the /doze animation to apply outside of fc housing, but they could have just asked us (which SE will never learn to actually ask what people paying for their product want) and now people are dissatisfied they make up a lame excuse to avoid doing the work.

I honestly can't imagine how it could ever occur to an MMO dev that players would not want access to an emote anywhere in the game world. This is just... standard stuff. I honestly can't think of a single MMO I've played that restricted emotes in such a way.

SE has not a single good argument as to limit this emote and thats because what they want to prevent already exist in the game using other kinds of emotes.

Also the original statement was that they limited it to prevent "inapropriate screenshots" which you wouldnt be looking at unless you went onto the internet which is not related to the game itself anyway.

I think this is silly coming from a company who uses sex to sell and promote its games quite frequently. They create female characters with skimpy outfits all the time and increased Lightning's breast size for the upcoming Lightning Returns game.

FFXIV has quite a bit of sexual innuendo and even a quest (or was it a fate) where you escort a woman for some rich guy to pleasure his potential male client. As they walk into the tiny shack on the beach she says, "no need to rush. We have all night."

The only way to make that sexual is to do a /sit in front of the character. I guess some people might find that offensive but again this is a game with sexual dialogue and the quest I mentioned.

I really don't care about this but I guess the hypocrisy was a bit funny.

So...what is so bad about the new doze emote? I have only seen the female Miqo'te and male Lalafell ones (because those were shown on the dev blog) and there are much "worse" (lol) ones usable anywhere. Is the Hyur one overly suggestive or something..?
