holy cow people are really fussy over an emote lol is it really that big of a deal that it warrants dev attention and a 12 page thread?

In its defence almost everything this game have to offer thus far has become a big deal one way or another.
Still its not the emote itself that is the big issue here, IMO its the fact that SE feels the need to babysit their players to keep them away from harmful things (using emotes to make porn i guess).
This. How many of the people in this thread would have actually used the emote? It feels like the majority is only balking because they are getting restricted, regardless of whether they would use it or not. (And yes, I understand that there are people who really do want to use the emote among the posters too).
Personally I don't really mind not being able to use it anywhere. I wasn't planning on sleeping on Ifrits tail anyway.
That's the thing. Saying there are more important things to discuss is fact, not opinion. Normally I don't speak in absolutes like that, but the current existing problems are infinitely more important than this particular subject matter. There is no way to say that server issues, mechanics, and several other issues take a back seat to this. Its not a discussion, its people that want SE to remove the limitation of said emote because their reasons for limiting it in the first place is wrong since what they are trying to prevent from happening already is with the existing emotes. Your not discussing anything, you just said that this cause was ridiculous because according to YOU theres more important things to discuss. And who said anything about beeing mad, people simply want a proper answer from SE that makes sense.
I'll say again, I think it's great that young people have pent up energy and feel a need to stand for certain personal freedoms. The world needs more of that. But this?!?!?!?! Personally, I don't like people telling me what to do. But some people here are treating this like SE is trying to take away your right to bear arms.
So all the while that SE is worrying about whether emotes can be used inappropriately, over at Zenimax ESO will start with virtually double the amount of emotes that FF14 ARR currently has. I bet one thing Zenimax wasn't doing, and that was sitting around trying to see if there was any provocative possibilities with each emote they are adding to the game.
In all the years I've played MMO's I have not actually seen the shenanigans occur in-game that SE seems to be so concerned about. It seems to me the only losers here are the players because now every new conceptual emote will go through the same process of restriction or elimination, sad really, especially for the RP'ers out there.
Sounds like you'd be better off playing ESO, huh? Considering being paid to clearly advertise itSo all the while that SE is worrying about whether emotes can be used inappropriately, over at Zenimax ESO will start with virtually double the amount of emotes that FF14 ARR currently has. Indeed, the only ones who lose here are the players because of lack of content, lack of gear progression once you've hit that i90 mark and lack of incentive to go back more than once a day to help in previous content, or once a week if it's crystal tower. It seems to me the only losers here are the players
....Oh you mean players lose because of an insignificant emote? Thought you meant something actually important.
Slightly out of context that I pull this statement out of the thread, and Devils_Lawyer, don't take it as a direct hit against you in particular... but I've seen multiple people say this exact statement both in the forums and verbally and I always chuckle.
Whatever the FFXIV team says in regards to particular things people are complaining about at the time, whether or not the explanation from the devs makes sense, if it's not what some people want to hear, they will still be angry in any case.
Personally, I don't believe there is a such thing as a "proper answer that makes sense" in the eyes of the devs and the players. It's likely why there are less answers than there are questions. People want what they want, no "answer" will suffice if it isn't "Ok, we'll do what you want".
Well... "Common" sense isn't all that common anymore, now is it?
I'm just gonna repeat what I said in the other thread, because the entire situation is lulzy as all hell.
I hope you understand that this will not, in any way, prevent the taking of inappropriate screenshots. People already take inappropriate screenshots with the emotes we have. Yet you guys are still worried about that?
This is a game with references to rape, sexual exploitation, threesomes (Ruby-Eyes, Sapphire-Eyes, and Longhaft, anyone?), legal prostitution (both a FATE in Costa del Sol and NPCs in Thanalan), replete with suggestive conversation and commentary, and you're worried about inappropriate screenshots? o_O
I think your priorities are skewed.
if people would put so much energy for their rl freedom instead of fighting for it in a game the world would be a better place.

have fun
Yes i get your point but lets take a look at the only explanation we have gotten so far.
Im not going to bother finding it and copying it but the general reason was.
"To prevent players from taking innapropriate screenshots"
This would probably have been a perfectly fine explanation to most people if not for the fact that its already beeing done with the emotes that we have.
So basicly what SE tries to prevent by limiting this one already exist and will continue to exist till the day this game dies or loses all its emotes.
