There are a lot of people who do not like this (including me). I've had the game since launch and I just finally completed the main story. I move at a casual pace. However, that isn't to say that I don't want to experience the challenges this game has to offer. We have been told that there will come a time when players will receive a buff to allow them to complete the more difficult older content to catch up with the rest. Here is my solution:

Allow players to play old outdated challenges with the original level cap / item-level cap the challenge had upon its initial release. Award unique achievement items for players able to complete these challenges (players who completed these challenges upon their initial release would obviously also receive these awards without any additional action on their part). I think something like this would go a far way in pleasing both casual and hardcore players.
