Dragoon has a very long, set rotation, you basically alternate between 3 ability combos while moving behind or to the side of an enemy when appropriate. They are a bit more durable than other dps because they wear the heaviest armor of the DPS classes.

Monk has to chain abilities that shift him between different stances to build up their buff, greased lightning. From what I hear they mostly attack from the flank, but that might be changed in 2.1 making attacks that give a bonus from attacking from behind attractive, so they may become like the dragoon having to switch depending on the attack. The main disadvantage with Monk is it takes a bit of time to stack Greased lightning and start dealing full damage, and greased lightning can fall off if you cant attack the boss for a period of time for whatever reason (Ifrit charges for example)

Bard is more spammy you probably wouldnt like it, keep your dots up, keep your straight shot buff up, watch for procs and rotate cooldowns

Arcanist does become less spammy later on, especially once you get bio2, it then pretty much becomes a full DoT class, with Ruin being filler when you arent reapplying dots or using your atherflow abilities.

Any DPS is going to have the same Queue regardless. Tanks will have very little queue, if you are interested in that at all.

Bards atm have an easier time of getting into some groups, because of the utility they bring with their songs, and being able to move while attacking at range. They dont do as much RAW dps as say a Black mage or Summoner because of this.

I'd say, for a varried play style, give Pugalist/Monk a shot.
