    Leaving a FATE early

    Something I noticed as I've been FATE levelling...

    I was levelling my SCH in Coerthas and we were fighting the Cyclops. At about half health, the Svara 3 FATE chain spawned. Suddenly, a mass number of people, including my party members began to teleport away as the boss' HP got lower(knowing that they had already gotten gold), leaving fewer people to kill the boss...

    There were too few people(and no tank) left to finish the battle. People either died from the boss' AOE or just gave up and joined the zerg rush on Svara. We still got exp from failing, but I imagine we could have still gotten full exp AND beaten Svara if people weren't so greedy. It's annoying since this is one of the few FATE battles I enjoy since it's somewhat challenging. It also wasn't the first time I experienced this. There was a time when the Roc, Lightning FATE and Svara all spawned close to each other, with people abandoning the fight left and right. It was a disaster and that time, it was actually the Svara FATE that ended up unfinished.

    I agree this is horrible game play. I can not see how they over looked it . You can clear gold whole basically MPKing everyone else.

    They should also think about color coding FATE's on map according with % health remaining. This will help people decide which FATE to go to better.

    Best solution is to have only one fate up at a time. This foolishness of 3-7 fates up at once is just plain stupid.

    Here is another solution for this. Do not give any reward for a FAILED FATE. The "HEROES" did not win and now the mob(s) is free to terrorize the world at its leisure.

    Sorry, but I do not believe in participation rewards. You want the reward then finish the job you started.

    I think what everyone said is a great ideas, except for

    DMCain

    Because people are all over the map doing different things and not all of them are the same level of FATE, and giving players a few different things to choose from is nice.

    Here is another solution for this. Do not give any reward for a FAILED FATE. The "HEROES" did not win and now the mob(s) is free to terrorize the world at its leisure.

    Sorry, but I do not believe in participation rewards. You want the reward then finish the job you started.
    Removing rewards for Failed FATE would really help with this problem.

    Wouldn't even need to strip the reward for failing. Just reset FATE progress if the FATE wipes and the monster resets. Better yet reset FATE progress if you leave the vicinity. Work it like Reives in 11 and if you're out of the radius for 5-10 seconds you're reset.(Though arguably reive HP isn't reset like FATE monsters so in some cases this would be a double penalty.)

    or even if you just aren't there at the end of the fate. I got left being the only person completing a fate boss with 10% of his health left as a healer the other day cuz EVERYONE left the fate early. kinda pissed me off.

    Wouldn't the obvious answer just be to only give you the FATE reward if you're inside the FATE area when it's completed?

    Of course, people would still leave for Svara then because missing the opening events would probably cost you more than you'd gain. Can you really call someone trying to get the most EXP for their time greedy in what is essentially unorganized solo content?

    First they would need to fix the many scenarios where the mobs actually spawn outside of the fate area. I'll agree reseting all progress if you venture too far away would work.
