WOW. I am also into achievements but I will never see the blue reward item for my fisher lol. Alone the 300 fishes I need from Level 11-20 are killing me so I won't even bother to make them (and the rest in higher levels). Fishing takes far too long and is far too static to really enjoy it.

How long did you play with your fisher? I guess since 1.0 already. And it seems you are through it so nothing left to do. Maybe upgrade some items to HQ? Not sure if really needed since fishers catch a lot of HQ items already with white items.

Actually, you need all HQ AND materia melded (or food) if you want to be able to catch the HQ versions of the 50++ fish. I have all HQ gear but no materia and those suckers still get away from me. And if all you have is NQ level 50 green gear, you won't even be able to catch the HQ versions of 50+ fish. However, you can still catch at least NQ versions of every fish in the game just with crappy sub-50 gear.

Pretty much the only thing to do is get all Rank A's in your record book and completely fill out your fishing log. Outside of that, try to find fish you can make a profit off of. Maybe they'll actually include Fishers in obtaining the treasure maps in the upcoming patch.

I fished in 1.0 a little but not much because of it's ungodly annoying but oddly fun way of fishing. I really just got bored and said to myself "I want to get this achievement." The funny thing is for the first set i was watching breaking bad on one monitor and the other had the game so when i heard the tug it was like auto pilot.

Seems they are, but only once every 18 hours! And in 2.2 the battle classes will be able to get them too! Because gods forbid gatherers actually have any worth in this game!
