The Treaty between Limsa and The Kobolds and how it was broken

We don't really hear too much about how the treaty was broken. Just a tacit admission from Blofiswyn that it was the Limsan's fault. From what Titan says, we can infer that it is or involves trespassing on their land. It is incidental knowledge in other quests that few Kobolds have left their mountain. Also that they seem to view their mountain as a kind of holy land, hence their worship of a Primal of earth. The existence of Camp Overlook probably figures into the violation of the treaty, as well as Poor Maid's Mill and Camp Bronze Lake depending on how far south they believe their land claim is.

I figure it's European America vs. the Indigenous Peoples. Make a treaty so we can deal with other problems on our plate, then break it when it's convenient to us. Lather, rinse, repeat.

    If I had to guess:

Limsa is probably the most ore reliant city state in Eorzea, the forges need to always be pumping out arms, armors, guns, cannons and assorted ship parts.

Meanwhile the Kobold are very talented miners, so talented in fact they expand and exhaust the land of resources in an absurd rate.

Soon Limsa found itself encroached by the Kobold expansion, forcing them to use more rash measures to defend their interests. There's literally Kobolds mining just outside the city gates, maybe they just have different concept of what is territory or thought they would get away with it. I'm pretty sure Limsa's hand was forced, they have enough worries to care of and adding another beast tribe and primal to the list is pretty serious.

as I recall the original treaty between the Kobolds and Limsa was: The Kobolds were given rights to anything that came for under the land (of Vylbrand), where as Limsa Lominsa was given rights to anything from under the sea.

Limsa realized that they couldn't survive off the sea alone and thereby started farms and stuff in La Noscea...

I will state all info is unsourced, but I believe it's from the Titan(Normal) part of the main storyline, or some sidequests around La Noscea

Well because it is an island it is possible that like Lominsans neither are actually native to La Noscea but dug up from beneath the seafloor level onto the island. Which unlike the scorn Ixali have for other beastmen would give the Sahagin the only legitimate claim of the land which would make their outright aggression similar to indigenous and the kobolds would be similar to portugal where they are completely capable of colonization but are just late to game. So in response they made "Treaty" to delay the inevitable conflict since the Dalamund fall was not kind on any race in Eorzea. So really it is possible the city state and the kobold tribe are on equal footing but that doesnt change the fact that the land war is a three way battle.

Yes, I have read something to that effect as well. Cannot recall where. Maybe the intro video for Limsa?

Limsa Lominsa needs mineral resources for their rebuilding effort, and so they broke their treaty with the Kobolds and started mining in Kobold territory (since all underground is supposed to be Kobold land according to their treaty). Then when Kobolds fought back, Limsa Lominsa started killing them.

    So the Kobolds summoned Titan.

Basically Limsa Lominsa are the bad guys in this situation. They see Titan as a threat and Kobolds as a nuisance and seem to not really care to solve the situation in any way other than with violence, because their only option besides killing Kobolds is to stop mining for the resources they need, and they don't want to do that. They made a treaty that they only respected for as long as they didn't need to take stuff from the Kobold lands -- the minute it became in their self-interest to ignore it they went and broke their word.

It seems to me that most of the reasons why the beast tribes are mad enough to summon their Primals in the first place are because we 'civilized races' keep treating them badly. The Ixal are simply vicious territorial jerks, but I'm not too sure as to why the Amal'jaa are mad; though it's not like Ul'dahns are known for not being greedy so maybe it's another conflict over land rights.

The Ascians basically just give them the knowledge and tools to strike back, since otherwise the beast tribes can't match the military power of the city-states to stand up for themselves.

I disagree, I don't think the city-states can handle them at all. Which is why they have us go take care of them.

the beast tribes and civilized races lived together in peace until Garland came. In an attempt to save ourselves, the "civilized races", we cast all the beastmen away, for the Garlans wanted the primals forever gone. This is not 11 where the beastmen are all bad guys. This 14 have been continually hurt and abused by "civilized races". After all ready being removed and abandoned by limsa lominsa out of fear of the Garlans, then to have them come and kill them and still their resource, well they where worse then the Garlands. The beastmen in this game walk a very sad life. You get some incite on the blm storyline,

They can handle the beastmen; it's the Primals they need us to get rid of.
