Hot Topics

I strongly suggest the hot topic feature not be by number of posts in a topic. Many forums have "Hot topics" that are 2-3 forum members arguing back and forth.

I say that posts that get lots of likes in the OP should be used for Hot Topics as to foster people to click on posts that may be off the front page but strongly supported by the community.

Promoting big post topics will not do the community any good and just embolden the current trolls to make more arguementative posts just to garner high post counts.

I also agree that forum admins should put more focus on the "like" feature and less focus on post counts. Another example of this is the medals displayed by character's names now. These too are tied to post count which is redundant because the post count is already displayed in the same area. A better idea would be to award medals based on "likes" recieved.

The "like" feature is much more difficult to abuse and is generally a better indicator of post and poster quality than post count.

People already abuse the "Like" feature. They create polls just to get more "Likes." I think they should remove the medals, and the post count, they don't seem to add anything but trolls to these forums. I'd also like to see hot topics added to the forums.

Currently hot topics are sorted by post counts I'd rather see polls of any kind get attention than the crap threads that are at the top of the forums right now. At least if a thread gets 50 likes but doesn't have 3 people pumping the page count past 100 people can still find and vote for that poll or idea.

+1 to this suggestion. The current hot topic system is just not worth checking...its all trolling/flaming. I already even leave that window collapsed.

However, before they take care of it they need to take care of general discussion forum first. Its a nonsense you having devs only care about stuff posted in a forum that is supposed to be the off-topic one while all the real feedback forums are left behind. They first need to spread the threads around, havving them moved to the correct forum so we also will have more directed feedback since most trolls often just go to general discussion talk trash.
