Bring back some classic 1.0 features!

Somethings were amazing in 1.0 to do with friends, and with the Duty Finder in 2.0 these things could be made cross server for more enjoyment.

We had things called Skirmish where you would travel to an island and slay groups of enemies and bosses under a strict time limit. At the end of this gauntlet you were presented with a random weapon from the Giantsgall model.

Also had, what used to be for relic progress, Hamlet where Disciples of War, Magic, Land, and Hand would work together to protect a small town of NPCs from being obliterated by waves of Beastmen. Land would collect items and Hand would craft them into potions to buff the NPCs fighting against the Beastmen while War and Magic would help defend them.

Thank you for reading this and I hope it makes its way into the Team at Square-Enix.

Lastly there was Caravan Escort missions sponsored by the Grand Companies. In this event you would defend a caravan across a field to its destination. At certain points enemies would spawn and must be defeated before the Caravan Chocobos take too much damage and flee. You could collect fruits and berries to feed the Chocobos to increase their remaining HP and were given a reward based on speed and remaining health of the total Caravan.

From what I understand, Yoshi was asked this ages ago and stated that those three elements of 1.23 are now gone for good, although you still have escorts as both FATEs and levequests. They were pretty much just experiments in ideas for implementation for ARR, and obviously SE decided they didn't work well enough or something.

Old caravan escorts are now the escort-type FATEs.
Everybody hated Hamlet Defense, even though I didn't ever do it that seemed like the general opinion

Its a shame, I never experienced these as I didn't play 1.0, but they all sound amazing.

I also support a large variety of different game modes.
It simply challenges your tactical intellect.

But there is one FATE in which you protect a bridge against waves of intruders who
try to destroy supply crates. Maybe this is a little like the protect-the-village mode you guys are talking about. And after the phase 1 you charge forward
to destroy the enemy boss in another FATE.
Such chained FATEs are also very interesting.

It seems they put everything into FATEs now.
I hope in future they support more of these dynamical FATE chains,
    kind of like in GW2.

But surely leves are not quite as interesting as they could be.

    Regards!

Hamlet defense was an affront to all things good in the world.

Although if they vastly revamped the scoring system to not be idiotic (for example an enemy with obtuse spawning requirements that you have no hint at all to how it appears and people only knew it existed because of dat-mined score bonuses counts for like 1/4-1/3 of your score if you manage to reach the highest score tier) it would actually be pretty fun.

The Skirmish system is pretty much what Guildheists have become. Hopefully these can be made into something useful with patches. They're getting their experience buffed in 2.1. Maybe in the future, we could have some that aren't tutorials, for level 50s, and they could give out rewards of some kind.
