Question to Role-Players

I'd be tempted, but it would depend on how many of the current RP community on Balmung were going to make the jump.

RP servers are grand, but they don't really function without RPers.

If they did designate one it would probably be Balmung as it is the older of the two unofficial servers. That said I'm here now so I would stay.

I don't think I or anyone would move unless:

a. The server had special rules by Square against trolling
b. Only if everyone I knew would come with me.

But as I said I doubt they would add a new one, so balmung is safe.

I'm a solo roleplayer I guess. I'm always in character when by myself. It's sorta like playing a non heavily scripted single player RPG and take it seriously I guess.

Depends really... I'm quite settled on my current server to be honest. Though if transfers were free and it seemed that enough of the rp community would switch (if a new server was made) then I might switch. Though from glancing over this thread it seems most are settled on whatever servers they are on so I doubt I'd switch without some form of a community going over.

Nice thought but I think I'm in the same boat as Erik, if they had special rules on the server then that would make the switch way more tempting. Granted my other main issue is I have a lot of non rp rl friends that play on this server I call home :P pretty sure they would not want to switch servers.

Though i have little doubt in my mind that Square will never actually make good on their remarks about making a Role-play server (from back in Beta), or designating one of the existing servers the role-play server; I'm still going to pose a question.

If they ever did give us a role-play server, would you (Role-players or RP-friendly players) transfer over to it? And if you would, should it be something we should ask for as i'm certain that there would be enough people to fill a server adequately if given the chance.

As the leader of an RP-oriented FC, I'd definitely put it up to a vote. Would be interested to see it happen, especially if server transfers were free to the new RP server (assuming it wasn't just designated from existing 'unofficial' RP servers like Gilgamesh and Balmung).

Could be neat to make a dungeon or two for the role players. I don't do it myself but a neat idea and it could bring those on other worlds into it maybe.

I wouldn't. I have to many friends on hyperion now to just up root and leave for an role-playing server. Maybe I'd make a new character just for fun, but I still couldn't see putting a 100% in to it.

Cylla, there are two RP linkshells on Hyperion - Regalius and Twelves' Guard. If you're interested in either one, I can get you a pearl for the former and poke someone to get you a pearl for the latter. Bother are pretty light, so it's not all rp, all the time. Regalius does organized events, Twelves' Guard reserves their pearl for RP though.

Honestly, for me? It's too late. Yes, Yoshi and Squeenix should have followed through on their promise, and yes, I'm very disappointed in them for flaking out. But too much time and energy has been spent establishing myself on Balmung; I wouldn't leave even if they labeled a new server RP.
