Platronics RIG headset + mixer ideal for PS3 users who want to Skype / Vent chat!

    PLATRONICS RIG HEADSET + MIXER!

    The Problem

What I normally have been doing is playing the game sound through speakers and the Skype chat into one ear using the iPhone ear bud and inline mic that it came with. My issue with this are:
    • If I turn up the speakers everyone on Skype / Vent will have to hear my game sound
    • When I play at night and kids are sleeping, I can't really have the sound out of the stereo anyway, so then have to choose between skype only into my headset, or game sound only into my headset. I love the game music and want to hear it while also chatting to friends.
    • I would like to use a higher quality headset / mic for skype but since there aren't really any decent one ear headsets then would not hear the game at all through my stereo speakers (without blasting it)!
    • Sometimes I play with my girlfriend and we are both in the same room skyping the same group. I'll hear her talk in the room then echo with a delay through my headset. This is really hard to follow and understand so I really need a noise cancelling headset to block out her real voice in this situation and only hear her through the headset.

So basically I've been looking for a way to get both Skype chat from my iPhone and the game sound from my PS3 into one headset. Finally I have found a solution!

    The Solution!

Platronics RIG headset and mixer sell's on amazon.co.uk for £77.97 (black cost a bit more) - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...&s=electronics.

This mixer allows you to plug in your smartphone or tablet at the same time as your PS3 (or PC / XBOX360 for that matter) and plays the sound from both on the headset. You have a separate volume control for each audio source and a master volume. This makes me very happy I hope it'll help others in the same situation.

I did wonder if a simple mixer could be bought separately, as the quality of these is nice for the price but certainly not the best. Do you have any recommendations of what people could buy to go with their existing headset? I'd love to know for future reference also, but not really sure what to even search for.
