That said, generally speaking and in SE's defense during this whole ordeal...
1. It hasn't been a year yet and, anyway, Yoshi P's "era" started only around 6 months ago.
2. Yoshi was very clear from the beginning, when he took over, that it was going to take time for them to make the changes necessary and they've done all they can reasonably do under the circumstances.
3. They vowed to communicate more with the community. They have been.
4. They vowed to pay more attention to the community. They have been.
5. They've implemented, or have confirmed future implementation, of a number of things players have been asking for.
6. They haven't charged a dime for subscription fees for all this time.
Yes, "they should have had everything done correctly on launch". We know this. They know this. Everyone knows this. However, we're way beyond that now. Time has marched forward, SE's doing what Yoshi promised they were going to do... And so, at this point that there are still people making that statement seems a bit like bashing an easy target for the sake of bashing an easy target.
It's like having a friend who does something really screwed up, but swears to change their ways... You agree to give them the chance, and maintain the friendship. However, even months later, you're still bringing the event up to them, reminding them of what they did and trying to make them feel like crap for it. They've done and continue to do everything they said they would to make it up to you... but you just keep the abuse coming. There's something about that kind of behavior - in any context - that just seems cruel and abusive to me. Some kind of weird power trip.
FFXIV is a game. It's a form of entertainment. No one's life hangs in the balance of whether the game rebounds successfully or not. I just don't understand where some people's need to continue kicking away at SE is coming from at this point. I'm not a psychologist, but that kind of angry obsession just doesn't seem healthy to me.
I mean, if the state of FFXIV gets someone *that* upset, and they're *that* tired of waiting for things to turn around... Then move on and play something else! Dwelling on it and getting angry over it is obviously not going to make it happen any faster. It's not getting those doing it any satisfaction, obviously, since they're clearly still upset about it. So why stick around?
It's like someone standing with their hand over a fire, complaining that it's burning them and that the fire is taking too long to go out. Yet, instead of simply removing their hand 'til the fire's extinguished, they persist in keeping it there... just so they can keep complaining about it.
Anyway... that's just my two gil on the matter.
