I feel the music is wonderful... Especially in Mor Dhona! Although in some areas the music can lull me to sleep when I'm in a long party.
The crafting system also makes crafting on FF14 more enjoyable than in FF11...

Graphics is great and teleport is really good for the time being because lack of other transportation modes, even when other modes of transportation come out I believe Anima will be around for those who don't have as much time to play. If I have only an hour before work that gives me enough time to do something because I can teleport there, but if I had more time and a reason to ride a chocobo if I had one I would ride it instead. But I haven't logged in for awhile now because I have been waiting on a content patch.
The design I feel went right -- the execution, however did not.
So, FFXIV's strengths in a nutshell:
http://memedepot.com/uploads/2000/22...9260242658.jpg
Things FFXIV did right...
The ability to have 2 chat logs. (love that i can have one for just chat and everything else on the other ^^)
Character customization. (can't wait for them to add barber shops with new features ^^)
Lalafells. (yay for giving taru-tarus knees and elbows!)
Leves. (even though we're all probably sick of them by now, it's still nice to be able to log in and rank up solo if needed)
and all the things I /liked in other peoples posts ' w ')b
It's been said a number of times but character models. Especially the way the bottom of your mage robes move (and stop moving when you're not moving).
About it though.
-lalafells with extreme facial hair
-80's pop culture references inside levequests
definitely two steps in the right direction
The good: Some of the CGI Plot scenes, the graphics, the game's potential and SEs goal to try something fresh and unique.
The bad: armoury system, lag, terrible action bar that was hastily implemented, menus, leves, no content, boring battle, lack of class uniqueness(I know they are working on this, but it something that should have never had to be worked on with a launched mmo), crafting mini game thing sucks, inconsitent formulas where stats do nothing and rank is everything(this in itself is an outrage, good job making gear with stats as worthless as hempen gear, and gives players no reason to take pride in their gear at all), and hundreds off other stupid things that should have been fixed before the game was launched.
The ugly: SEs autrocious UI, having everything check server side, is the biggest issue with this game atm. Unresponsive battle cimmands, unresponsive menus, unresponsive everyrhing. This realistically should take priority over a battle class overhaul, but whatever.
Even with all the bullshit in this game I play it. Not because I enjoy being feed crap, but because I believe this game has potential, potential to be even better than what FF11 was, potential to better than the majority of mmos. But SE needs to get on the ball, you guys are a great company, and you know what YOU need to do to fix it. I mean comeon, you made FF4 and FF: Tactics, and that is why I play your games. Don't let your fans down...

Within the World of Warcraft community, addons and mods are two terms that are generally used interchangeably (in fact, when speaking about your UI, most people say 'mod' because it's modifying your UI, not adding on to it). I'm not talking about hacks, I'm speaking of Blizzard-approved addons, most of which are found right on the Curse WoW Addons site.
Many people use UI mods that will completely re-skin their interface and re-arrange UI elements that are otherwise unmovable. I'm actually a UI purist, and don't like having to deal with UI mods when they break with each major patch, so I just don't deal with them. The fact I don't mod my UI is something my guild actually pokes fun at me about. They think it's weird.
Blizzard condones and encourages addons and mods. They have a section on their official forums called UI and Macro, with resources for custom UI and addon development. One of their recent player polls asked players how much or how little they depend on mods, and which type they like to use.
Quite a bit, actually. Action bars, chat log, character nameplate, party nameplates, bags, menu, and exp bar are not moveable. The mini-map was finally made moveable sometime during WotLK.
Moveable stock UI items... raid frames and focus frame. Really nothing else comes to mind.
But if you don't like how your WoW UI looks, you can simply go find a mod and change it.
FFXIV allows for much greater UI customization out of the box. Good thing, since FFXIV is a no-addon game.

the battle system.
ill be honest i went back to play ffxi today, and damn, that system really really was not good.
Having control of your types of attacks, linking to other attacks, positioning mattering, fast tp, and tp pools, a large variety of skills to choose from, being able to customize your skills to the type of fighting you may have to do. shorter more dangerous battles.
I know a lot of people hate the system, but imo it really was a cool thing. I hope the new battle system can capture its strengths.
