    Archer as the way it is, works perfect for me it doesnt need autoattack, as an archer i dont use light shots all the time, actually i use multishot and trifurcate mostly, but if theyre adding auto attack to archer i would like to have the option that when i do a buff the auto attack can stop that moment so i can nock my arrows or use a weapon skill, and when you click the light shot button you can start auto attack again, that would be a good way to make it, without making too complex the system

    buffs will work probably only on WS skills .....because having to stop autoattack , buffing up and using a skill is retarded

    or buffs will have a duration?

    anyway , multishot can work kinda like barrage does in FFXI?

    Buffs might be a problem too depending of auto attack speed. In FFXI the buffs like boost or SA reseted the weapon delay so you had the delay of basic attack to use a WS...assuming that here it might be faster (as said by Matsui) its possible that or they add a forced delay after these buffs or that you really need to toggle auto-attack off to use.

    I guess that makes sense. . . It just never seemed like it was worth the stamina investment mid-battle. Of course, they're getting rid of the stamina bar, too, so I guess it'll be much more relevant than I thought.

    I would assume that buffs would <stop> the auto attack, until you hit 1 again to turn it back on.

    Why not? we need careful fighting sometimes. I remember in FFXI we used to disengage and engage to stop hitting the mob at certain situations. At the same time, we need auto-attack for easy casual mobs, at least the melee need that for sure, and to have both ways without the hassle of disengaging and engaging (which i think is not very efficient) is to implement toggle for auto-attack.

    I like your basement example, though i can't relate. Please elaborate, thanks!

    that is your opinion. There have been RPGs that have given the player free choice to use AA, or fight manually, and have done it well, SW: KOTOR for example.

    Come to think of it, considering they refer to AA as a mode, it seems to me that a system that lets you stack several abilities in a que would be a logical battle engine choice, since as mentioned, you could choose to fight, or let the computer handle certain aspects of battle automatically.

    I think with auto attack they will need to change the buff system. Currently the buff system works most of the time for "the next attack" - which at the moment you can choose and control what and when this attack will be. However, with the addition of auto-attack, this gets a but flaky (mistimed SATA anyone? lol).

    Maybe they will opt in favor of the duration buffs like in FFXI.

    AND if they're redesigning buffs. Please, PLEASE let "raging strike" be called Strong draw or something. Raging strike just doesn't make sense for an archer.
