Unfortunately, what is going to happen is that physical levels and experience points are going to be completely deleted leaving you 100% screwed. We ARE losing something here, and that is the advantage of playing other classes to have a stat advantage on your main class. Right now that has been mentioned as being removed without any mention of compensating for it.

Even FFXI had a similar system, known as skill points. If you leveled one job and got your sword skill or evasion skill high, your lower level jobs would fight with those skills capped, giving you an advantage in battle.
Gain an advantage through player skill and gear, enough said. Stats are meaningless right now anyway, so you wasted all that time doing that anyhow. Imagine how wicked unbalanced it would be if when stats do mean something people had absurd stat advantages? Its amazing how far people have moved away from wanting to use skill in games anymore. All classes are gonna be fine without PL and after these updates stats and gear will actually be worth something so i say thats a good tradeoff. SE doesnt need to give us any more hand holding the games easy enough besides an even quicker free ticket to 50.

Azurus, you are correct about gaining an advantage through skill (kind of, this game really requires very little skill atm), but are totally wrong about gaining advantages through gear. Gear and stats (other than Vit and Mnd) are worthless in this game currently. You can't gain advantages in this game with gear, your rank VS. mob rank and your rank VS. recipe rank is all that matters in this game.
I'll tell you a sad tale of a poor Lalafell gladiator. We'll call him Phil. Phil was tanking for his group of friends in a nice place called Gridania. They were trying to get stronger, so they were killing crabs to achieve this. Well, Phil was tanking his lil' heart out, but occassional his archer pal would multishot and follow it with a quick nock and pull hate. His archer pal was rank 28, while Phil was 26, so Phil knew he was at a small disadvantage, but he tanked for hours, ferociously. The sadness begins here. Everytime his archer friend pulled hate, the crab would of course, run over and hit his pal. Phil soon noticed that his friend took substatially less damage than phil did. Phil was sad. He, being all hot and stuffy in his big heavy metal armor, and even couragously hiding behind his shield, took more damage than his pal, who was wearing a jogging suit. Phil was devestated, but in time would regain hope that this travesty, would cease.
I was wearing the 27 gear at the time, archer was in random gear ranging from 25 to 30. I had 72 defense on him and 4 Vit. We both always had protect and shell up, as our THM, is a stud. But because he had 2 ranks on me I was taking about 65 to 150 more damage per hit. This is so wrong SE, fix your formulas and give us incentive to want to get good gear!
