immersion?

I'm tired of hearing people say that this and that bla bla bla is breaking their "immersion"

Have you all forgotten that FFXIV is simply a video game? No different then the hundreds of video games you played in your life or do you have such a miserable real life that you need to escape into a virtual world where you get to look cool and be rich?

I'm playing video games simply to have fun. I never even thought that I was my character or that i actually lived in these worlds.

So stop it with the whole "it's breaking my immersion" and let's concentrate on giving SE ideas on how to makes this game FUN and not a real life replacement....

The only type of immersion i can relate to while talking about video games is how you set yourself into understanding how the video game characters would feel. ex. FFX being emotional, which is what made it awesome.

for an MMO, the only immersion I am guessing people are talking about is trying to relate to their own character, or pretending to be that character in that particular world. Not much of a real-life replacement, but it could be that way to certain people.

I don't think that's even close to what immersion "really" means. Bugs have existed and still exists in many games (online especially). Frustrating mechanics are just part of the game you play.

Pretty much. Video games aren't about fun and getting away from mundane tasks anymore, it's all about adding MORE mundane tasks and time wasters to make them more plausible or realistic, for immersion's sake.

I'm not saying i have a hard time getting immersed in the game. I don't want or care about getting immersed in the game. I'm not trying to feel like my character or pretend to be him.

What I'm saying is that I'm sick of all the whiners crying that everything is breaking their immersion as if they NEEEEED to be immersed in a virtual world to escape their sucky life.

Get over it people. This is a video game and we should stick to video game basics which is making it FUN.

If you want immersion that bad, buy yourself a 48 monitor eyefinity setup to cover all the walls of your room, a 7.1 sourround sound system and enough bag of chips to last for months... oh and dont forget the dippers!
