Bad Speculation - How do you get DRK from GLA?

I think Dark Knight Cecil with shields refers to the fact that he could equip shields, though they weren't visible unless you played the DS remake of IV.

But yarr, Gladiator would definitely need to be redesigned if it was made to accommodate for Dark Knight. Just Circle of Scorn would look dumb on it, honestly.

Well there was the fact that when jobs were originally introduced Yoshi-P explicitly stated something to the effect of they were thinking of making DRK a job from GLA.

Also, both are (or have been) sword-wielding magic users.

There's also nothing stopping them retconning GLA's skillset.

He actually said he knew people were asking about it due to the nature of Pld and Drk relationship and used the example I talked about while specifically saying that just because he made the comparison does not mean glad will have dark knight. Then went on to say he would prefer to see dark knight with 2handed swords . The only thing we can do is speculate.

Also@ steady. Drk only used a scythe in 11 and mostly always use swords , I think the bigger fanbase would be sad to see another departure from sword weapons.

Marauder 2nd job will probably be berserker, not dark knight. DRK from GLA would have to automatically change effects of some skills on job crystal equip.
A solution would be to make it special job levelled from lower level (levelling separately), requiring some of mrd and gla lvl, and having completely unique skillset.

Actually the statement I was referring to was considerably before that one. Early to mid 2012 iirc. I honestly can't search it at the moment as work has some strict (albeit inconsistent: hence me being able to post here) filters. Perhaps someone else can google it up for me?

Ah thats okay. Just a misunderstanding as this has been brought up to him many times in the past. I have no doubt that you saw what you saw. I dont really see the point in us speculating on Dark Knight atm. With the way they did scholar we still dont have enough to go on for the implementation of newer jobs.

Thinking of Thief coming from archer class.
For dark knight coming from Gladiator class, have to complete Paladin to obtain the quest, maybe it's good where once you become dark knight you can't go back to Paladin.

Now it was a long time ago and most likely isn't the going plan anymore. But it is worth noting that Arcanist was outlined more or less exaclty as it came out 18 months later.
