    I can see why people think Gld after all DRK and PLD are all ways just the other side of the coin as such.

    That been said if DRK is added my bet is Mara will be the base class if there is not a whole new class added for it.
    The weapon Great sword or Scythe works for me but i hope its a Scythe.

    The Botanist has a scythe is a null point there is nothing to stop them adding another type one for DRK with out having to change the Botanist.

    Some abilities that come from GLA/PLD that could be changed to accommodate DRK (assuming they used sword/board for DRK which I wouldn't want).

    Circle of Scorn --> Circle of Blood (same thing, but instead of shiny rays of light, they are pillars of blood and darkness. the DoT has a chance to heal)

    Rage of Halone --> Rhalgar's Vengeance (3rd piece in a combo, spikes enmity of player character directly in front of the DRK, adds a bleed)

    Riot Blade --> Vengeful Blade (instead of absorbing health, absorbs targets Strength, does not stack).

    Fast Blade --> Dark Blade (Combo starter, just a different animation)

    Sword Oath --> Decree of Pain (Adds enmity to attacks, increases damage %)

    Shield Oath --> Blood Omen (dumps enmity. you do 20% less damage and half damage done is converted to HP, other half converted to MP)

    I think with just these, u have a class that actually requires smart timely use of abilities as a DPS. You won't just ride the tanks enmity coat tails like DPS now, u will actually overtake it substantially if you don't know what you are doing).

    RIot blade currently restores mp not hp. And the oaths are paladin specific and wont be present on drk. Not trying to be mean. Just sayin.

    I understand that. Im just illustrating how easy it would be to to change the abilities. If (and i hope not) they choose GLA/PLD as the base, a simple rewording/reanimating of the abilities will make it feasible.

    Again, I see where and understand where u care coming from, but it wouldn't be that hard to do

    in addition, going on the basis that DRK is the antithesis of PLD, I feel like these changes would make sense from a historical/lore perspective.

    The only problem I have is using sword and shield. It takes away from being a DD and makes it more tanky by default.

    That's like asking what's the point of playing SCH when your playing SMN.

    The job abilities would make the class. War has two main combo paths, one for Damage, one for Enmity. Simply put... the one for Damage could be utilized by DRK easily and the job abilities they pick up at 30,35,40,45,50 could help to round out the rest.

    It would be simple enough to introduce 2H swords and make them GLA/DRK only. Just like CNJ/WHM and THM/BLM have one-handed and two-handed variants.

    Hell I'd like to see a tank/buff/debuff LNC job with 1H Spear and Targe shields kind of like Paragons from GW. It seems all set for it with Keen Flurry etc.

    That would make PLDs a bit more interesting at least, if they also go the GS as well. I think it will be a good idea.

    Well I see it as dark knight can be a tank job. It can be a "shadow knight" sort of role. If archer can become a bard of all things, I don't see a problem with Glad going dark knight. Would I want that? Not really. The idea behind dark knight is that it doesn't let standard knightly ideals get in it's way of taking care of whatever business. A DRK doesn't overly care much about protecting their allies, taking all the punishment so that they may live and all that jazz. They don't even think about playing fair. I'm just saying, if SE will turn a melee DPS class into a support class, as silly as it was just to shoehorn BRD into the game, then I don't see them having a problem throwing DRK onto Gladiator for whatever role they deem fit for it.

    Personally I rather see a DPS DRK than tank DRK.
