That's not the Onion Knight gear I was expecting. Looks really disappointing compared to what this concept art showed.

I'm sure I'm not the only one to have noticed it, but this is exactly what that dragoon is wearing. So, really, the 'recolor' is the Bard. Shame the only way to get the matching hat is to have been a 1.0 CE player.
That is not what the drg is wearing if you go look at the latest teaser vid you will see the CT outfit and the onion knight outfit separately. Which look different.
If you look at the teaser vid again you'll notice that it is indeed one and the same. The DRG Roe in the teaser vid and the Mi'qote at the start of the video are wearing the same gear with the Mi'qote wearing the actual helmet to complete the set. However it looks like the Mi'qote is wearing a sword so it's possible that this gear set is going to be GLA/PLD/MRD/WAR/LNC/DRG instead of just LNC/DRG. The lodestone CT gear picture, teaser vid, and the concept art of the Onion Knight gear all all one and the same.
I have the full set. It's a reskin. The patterns and color changes help to hide that it uses the same armor model. I'm fine with it honestly though I'll be annoyed if the gear is not able to be dyed. SE seems adamant about not giving players customization options.

No it's not..how many times do we have to say this? It's a TOTALLY different model.
Here are only a few totally obvious differences that require a different model:
Collar is totally different. CT one is asymmetric while the battlemage one is symmetric and has a totally different opening down the chest.
The chest has those little bottles which are part of the model. They are completely missing from the CT one.
The skirt has not only a different bottom it also has that edge to the side which, again, asks for a totally different model.
The healer and dps caster CT sets are the same though, just different colors.
Direct comparison:
And a few more screens of the new armor:

Admittedly, it is a blurry picture, but you can still make out the details. And, thanks to other posters, I can see and make the comparisons.
They are the same armor. The metal parts aren't as bright and the coat a touch brighter than the concept art, I'll grant you that, but aside from those it's the same.![]()
Append: Wow, beat to the punch by hours... I'm getting bad at this.

What's weird is that this is Crystal Tower, the one from FF3 right? So wouldn't it make sense for the warrior/paladin outfit to be the Onion Knight one and not the Warrior of Light since he's from FF1?
:x Well iono, maybe someone can explain it to me.
Considering the fanservice approach they have to throw the references in somewhere - We already got his Helm that came from nothing other than getting a collectors edition, much like in 1.0 we had the Onion Knight armor set, but it was a cloth set that came from certain Guildleves.

Oh okay. Thank you.

only reason drg looks bad in this pic is cuz it's a Roe wearing it, Roe's look stupid in every armor that isn't tank armor :/
